Tippers and bulkers

you know what they say about tipper drivers

theyve got their brains in their buckets

and you know what else they say

tipper drivers dont see sense
they see loads

Chewyboy:
We can on usually ■■■■ past everyone when we are loaded. As for people slagging tipper work off I’ve done multi drop general and abroad work and think tipper work is the best work as someone above said done by 4. No nights out. Get to go rallying in the tips. I currently do tipper work in london. And only thing I don’t like is the traffic

And that my scania has such a crap turning circle

I also like it when a big job finishes (new shopping centre, housing estate etc) and you can say “I did the (whatever) in/out of that place”. A bit like a builder or chippy I suppose. I think it’s one of the most skilfull rigid driving jobs as you have to reverse right upto the point where the material’s needed to unload;no forklift to carry it etc…

What buckets? Anyone who works in the aggregate game knows the days of loading yourself are over due to CITB ticket regs.

I was on mixers for years, did 3 days on tippers and scared myself to death that much i had to go back on mixers for another 10 years to recover,

  1. Why do tipper drivers always get in the way on site :imp:
  2. Do they always have to say “Can i just nip in before you as i can tip quicker” :unamused:
  3. Why are tipper drivers experts at getting them to fall over sideways :smiling_imp:

Well I enjoyed my 20+ years on tipper’s, plenty of time waiting at the tar plant to load and then a few hours at t’other end trying to get rid of it. No problem getting breaks in on that job! Paid at 27% of earnings as well, would go back to it tomorrow if the missus wasn’t so poorly (well maybe not tomorrow, it’s sunday ha ha).

Pete.

Some skip drivers can be just as bad

Tippers aint a job for everyone, it’s too hard for them, and far too dirty for most.

I have done fridges, curtains, tankers, low loaders uk and european I love the challenge of my job now having a blower aswell as a tipper means its always a different.I have to think about what im doing if its finding a farm down a lane built for horse and carts or if its blowing wheat into a silo making sure it dosent block cause i hate sweeping up lol

well after going back to general for a week or so a while back & that was really good money i know what side my breads buttered , i work for a good company & on bulk blower work everyday is different like i said good money on the general but far more satisfaction on the blower
While some of you lot are stuck with strobing lights at Goole or the box room at fenny lock while you’re tipping , i get to walk about & do as i please while i unload & i don’t have to listen to other drivers BS who feel the need to have to talk to you while i have a cuppa !

& i think you’ll find we’re not all just tipper & bulker drivers we’re elite bulk haulage specialists

Tippers are better jobs round here than mixers; Mixer firm round here will expect drivers to always put the company before their homelife, breaks when it suits customers, and expect us to keep delivering materials 'cos they won’t turn work down or put in for tomorrow (they get disappointed when it’s my turn on premix)
Tippers get in the way because tw*t groundworkers order materials, then looked surprised when they turn up “ur, don’t know where the building sands got to go drive.” Well, how about by the mixer where the old pile is? :unamused:
