Time keeping

Start time Saturday 11 a.m ,arrived 12.54 p.m( apx 2 hrs late ) ,planner was fine about it ,just said he’d just kept rolling jobs until I arrived
So what the latest you’ve been for work ,that’s my record

I was 3hrs early today.

I got sent on a run instead of shunting and finished before 1500. Win.

Lateness is for women and the idle.

Don’t ever quit your job, you’ll never find an employer this understanding again!

+1

I think I would have phoned in sick.

I don’t do lateness I’ve been with my current company 6 yrs 2 months and have been late once by about 5 minutes pretty good considering my start times require me to use an alarm clock every morning.

To be fair to Dozy, it was a very early start he had to turn up for

It just goes to show how much stobarts struggle to get drivers if thats fine :unamused: if i did that at our place they would spin me straight round and send me home, thats unless id rung them up way before my start time and have a very good excuse…

I was 1.5hr late once for a previous job because it was a bank holiday and I wanted to watch the end of the film on TV. National treasure I believe. Boss just laughed and then cracked the wip the rest of the shift. It was not a driving job, just warehouse.

As previously mentioned I would keep that job of yours as they seem pretty casual.

Been late once in 9 years, due to throwing up en route after a dodgy curry the previous night.
Only ever had one day off in that time too after arriving late above got sent home.
I’m a bit obsessed about With timekeeping ,it really annoys me when the wife makes us mate for something by taking ages to get ready.

Usually it’s the other way round - wife allows hubbie to mate with her in return for something that she wants…

Thanks for explaining that arriving just before 1pm for an 11am start is nearly 2 hours late, I really wouldn’t have understood the problem had you not done that!! :unamused:

I could quite well be working for them soon and it’s nice to know I can turn up when I fancy !!

I rarely over lay, been at present employer 3 years, and its happened twice, both times in the same week, the 2nd time was by a couple off hours   they offered to buy Me a new alarm clock

If an Employer sacked Me for turning in late, Then I’d have them in the Tribunal for unfair dismissal. Any one with irregular shift patterns, such as most Trampers, needs to be given a certain amount off leeway, and most bosses who are former drivers will. I go years between over lays, the odd ■■■■ up on 1, 2, 3 or 4 am start has to be accepted  If it were a regular thing, many times in a year, then maybe the driver might want to wonder if its the right job, and an Employer would have a good reason to sack

Just remember you’ll be on a trial period ,it doesn’t cost them anything too terminate your employment ,wheras it does me ,and as proved with the recent shenanigans with redundancy ,they don’t want too pay redundancy .

Yea I’m with you Eddie ,my 11 a.m regular start time plays havoc with my sleep pattern ,planner accepts it and rolls the jobs , boss doesn’t and deducts pay and puts marks on files :unamused: :unamused: ,mind he’s not a driver so not a suprise

I noticed on my way too work the other day that the road I use is closed this saturday,so I thought I’d do the decent think and warn the boss I would most likely be late ( assuming road is closed) ,after doing the decent thing of warning him in advance I would of thought I would of got a THANKYOU,but no I got a GETTING YOUR EXCUSES IN EARLY :unamused: :unamused: ,makes you wonder why we bother
