Be careful of the horrible guy at Thurrock Services fining people for dropping cigarette ends. Whilst I completely agree with this, this arse hole tries to provoke a reaction. He will try to get someone kicking off on his cctv that he has great pleasure in telling you that he is filming you. He also has no authority to ask for your identification so don’t give him any details. He’ll issue a ‘notice’ for £60 which isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on. ■■■■■■■■

Might…
Possibly be some chancer trying it on. If he gets three people to cash out he’s done ok.
shame there aren’t more people policing smokers doing this giving fines out.
More than 4,500 chemicals are found in cigarettes. Many of these can enter the environment from the tobacco remnants of a cigarette ■■■■ or filter. These include toxins such as ethyl phenol, nicotine, hydrogen cyanide, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, ammonia, acetaldehyde, formaldehyde, benzene, phenol, argon, pyridines and acetone, and polonium-210. More than 50 of these chemicals are known to be carcinogenic to humans. (By mass, polonium-210 is one of the deadliest toxins, around 250 billion times more toxic than hydrogen cyanide. It was the poison used to kill the former Russian spy, Alexander Litvinenko, in London in 2006. He died of radiation sickness.) The toxins also include pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and rodenticides, all of which might be sprayed onto the tobacco crop and which find their way into the cigarette and then the filter.
Once a ■■■■ lands in a drain, ditch or the sea, it starts to leach out the chemicals to form a toxic mix called a “leachate”. This cocktail is so lethal that one cigarette ■■■■ soaked in a litre of water for 96 hours leaches out enough toxins to kill half of the fresh or saltwater fish exposed to them. In fact, even filters from unsmoked cigarettes were found to be lethal to fish – albeit less so than the “smoked” items.number of campaigns are being set up to try and make people aware of the dangers of cigarette waste. Studies show that providing more rubbish bins can help – but the ingrained belief that butts are not “litter” means that, even where bins are plentiful, people still have no concerns about simply chucking a ■■■■ on the ground.

In this day and age sure they can’t smoke nearly anywhere now
Or are we a x smoker they are the worst ffs they live in a bubble
There are worse things in life like putting up with people who complain about smoking and want them fined
In this day and age there is no need for it smokers do not invade your space anymore
He’d be better patrolling the truck park areas and fining the dirty §histers that pee on the tarmac
He’d make an absolute fortune !

Smoking should be outlawed everywhere, even in people’s homes. Remember, if you’re a smoker - you WILL die.

Are you lot really serious ? You are against something so it must be banned , sounds like prohibition in another form and that worked well didn’t it ? You probably share the Corbyn vision of the socialist state of Britain . I’m a smoker , always have been , always will so stick that in your pipe and smoke it , oops you can’t can you , If you are in transport you missed your way dears , there’s places for people like you in the thought police . Keep pushing your agenda , and others will push theirs until you eventually wake up to the fact that all the freedoms you once had have gone , SNOWFLAKES

who said anything about banning smoking? If people want to smoke knowing the risks that’s up to them, I couldn’t care less. Throwing ends on the floor though is disgusting, no different to throwing an empty bag of crisps on the floor.

I’m an ex smoker, packed up in '89. I couldn’t care less about other people smoking either. As maga says, chucking your ■■■ ends on the ground is littering. Mind you there’s plenty of dirty ■■■■■■■■ in the UK that seem to think that it’s OK to fly tip all sorts of ■■■■. Most people over here are pretty conscientious about chucking crap around though, and that seems to help.

Alright, alright - you got me Seriously, though - can we do something about the rats in MSAs? Pretty sure they’re a much greater health hazard than the occasional ■■■ on the ground - most people can’t afford to smoke anymore even if they wanted to but them rats be everywhere…to the point I avoid stopping at services altogether. This one time at Beaconsfield services I had had a mcdonalds and went out to throw it in the bin and have a cig standing next to a bin with an ashtray. As soon as I slipped the empty paper bag in I saw something in the bush next to bin move (it was night time) and then rummaging from inside the bin. Walked back to the truck and smoked on the way, threw my ■■■ on the ground. 2-3 more rats scattered before me as I was walking away from the bin. Watched another climb on the wheel arch of a tractor unit across from me. Simply disgusting and people walk over their droppings and bring them into their cars and truck drivers who deal with food…ugh
Oh, and to the concerned fella who posted a load of “scientific evidence” about the harms a ■■■ on the ground can do - what do you think happens when you put it in the bin? It just goes ■■■■ and disappears? It still ends up at the landfill where its chemicals still get washed away into the soil. There are a lot more birds scavenging the landfills than there are in urban areas. Your used car tires contaminate infinitely more than a smoker and his ■■■■. Your £5 T-shirt’s manufacturing process has caused way more environmental damage too etc. etc.

Watford Gap has essentially what are pet crows that rummage through the McDonald’s wrappers in the bins

They recon that if they fly away the place will full down, or something like that
Last summer went lanududno for a few days holiday.
Was sat outside in a pub . And Saw a fella from council I guess in bomber jacket and camera on front.
And he was stopping people for throwing cig ends on the floor. Fair enough
we saw him ever day following people smoking just waiting and waiting. And as soon as ■■■■ was on floor he pounced.
Yet he seemed to totally ignore others dropping genereal rubbish.
Which to me is more a problem than cig ends.
But guess smokers are an easy target
