Today I went about my run, all done no dramas. Way back to yard I get asked to check out a drop for tomorrow to see if there’s space for an Artic as the sites usually littered with parked cars.
At roundabout and I straddle the inside lane and middle lane as I make my round the island. Check blindspot and it’s clear and start nudging forward as car in front joins the clogged roundabout. Had I not straddled I’d struggle to avoid damaging another so right thing to do was what I did. I pull forward to make my way around and can see a car coming the inside. Next thing I know the car is literally an inch or two from my side and half a foot from a wall the side of the roundabout. I pap horn and then the driver ends up smashing into the side of trailer.
Car then continues to carry on damages all the side. I follow car and we exchange details. Two mins the driver complains of neck ache, even though collision was less than 10mph.
No damage to my truck other than metal wheel trim damaged and minor paint marks.
Driver then tried to get me to take blame, started crying, said I was a filthy prossie shagging tramp truckdriver who is a bully on the road, new insult for the book.
Gaffer on my side but now driver claims I tried to hit them and threatened them, I allegedly offered money to stop them reporting me?
What is best solution, I want see kind of revenge if possible? I can’t understand why they reacted the way they have and why the lies. Surely you can’t just go around lying and get away scot-free? I’m green to this stuff
Describe the car driver and their vehicle in more detail please. I’m thinking cash for crash scammer, male, non indigenous to these isles and driving a clapped out W reg banger?

Bloke, mid 30s, rushing around in 06 car 'sorry I am in a rush ', changed to ‘why were you in my lane, if there’s space I can use it and you’re at fault’ within the time it took to take pics and exchange names. Then after contacting work the neck stuff started, then the insults, by time I got to yard the lies were told and I’d said this that and the other.
Wouldn’t shock me if they wanted to crash car, was decent nick but worth 2k tops, I just hope the prick doesn’t have courtesy car option in his insurance
Funnily enough earlier today in car with wife driving a car cut on to traffic island nearly causing a crash with us. Female driver and male passenger. After my wife beeped the male put his had up as if to apologise fair enough no harm done move on with your life etc. The next thing we saw was the female hitting the man for apologising. Just goes to show some people even when their in the wrong just can’t admit it.

You know where they live, go round there and turn this minor collision into a lengthy prison sentence.

I just hate the unnecessary lies and comments the prick made, I hoped someone had some nugget of gold I could unleash on them via statement but fact is its an everyday clanger and a prick who did it. Your mistake was to move the lorry after the car had hit you, another time even if he’s moved away stop, get out, take some pics showing the position of your lorry from various angles making sure you include the position where the car would have been, damage will be visible to prove and if he’s hit your wheel/trim the direction and uniformity of scrapes on a stationary wheel should prove that he was moving and you stopped…once you’ve moved unless you can find a credible indy witness or have a good working video recorder you’re buggered.
Assume everyone else is a sponging thieving lying swine and you won’t go far wrong, if they prove you wrong it’s a pleasant surprise, if they don’t prove you wrong you won’t be disappointed.
He/she will probably already have their cousins shyster low life lawyer operation in full flow, passengers equally traumatised will miraculously materialise, their uncle the doctor already warming his stethoscope and filling one of many names into the pre printed reports of reduced life expectancy/mobility, expect letters from the lowest form of legal money grabber in due course.
He’s probably already driving round in a brand new 5 series credit hire car, helpfully provided by another bunch of money grabbing low life accident management spivs.
Hopefully all of the above is not how it will be, but from your post the injured lamb sounds exactly to type, hope i’m well wrong.
I’d be finding out where he lives and storming through his door at 5 in the morning with a baseball bat with a nail in it and beating him to within an inch of his life. Id also be smashing his car up and burning his garage down with all his prize possessions in it as a warning in future to tell the truth.
Or you could just let the insurance companies deal with it and go about your life safe in the knowledge that he’ll most probably get found out to be lying and end up losing his no claims bonus. I get where your coming from,its infuriating when someone tries to pass the blame over when its their fault to protect a no claims bonus they have just proven they no longer deserve but you need to let it go. If you dont, you’ll just keep getting more and more wound up and it’ll bug you forever.

I work for a firm who have a fleet of 8. I subby to them direct rather than via agency.
I don’t rush, if I think I will hit I will put handbrake on and have a look, get help if needed or reverse and try elsewhere. I don’t work for blue-chip, I tried Culina but can’t handle the waiting around and felt like a number and an idiot who was mollycoddled and 15yr old.

Hands up, I did move which was naive but it is a major roundabout and horns ripping and they moved first!
I kept trim as evidence for insurance.
Again, all new for me, I know for next time (God forbid) and end of the day it’s clear who’s at fault to the gaffer and I won’t lose anything personally for the prang. I just hate liars winning.
Yep couldn’t agree more, the trouble is lying scum are now legion and men of honour whos word actually means something are increasingly rare, any time i can shove a spanner in their plans is a bonus.
the best think to do is exchange details very quickly take a few pics and go ,then later ask around for witness’s you never know who saw what that can help you out ,lastly don’t put it on the net .
