Risk assessment says come into the yard turn left then swing round to the right and reverse back onto bay ,but some numpty has parked his dot- com van on the left side of the yard and you’re worried you’ll hit it with the tail swing of the tri as you swing round ,so even though the risk assessment says you must not try to manuover whilst there’s dot- com vans ,
you’re it a rush and want too get tipped asap you decide to turn right and then swing too the rleftso that your tail swing won’t hit the van ,but you hadn’t spotted the over hang of the building on the right and you hit it ,damaging the roof and putting a hole in the top of the d/d zb dot-com vans .

I get paid by the Hour, and waiting adds to it
This. I was doing a drop at Stanningley and blocking off the yard as I’m doing it. Waiting to get some empty pallets on and Mr. I’m a builder and more important than everyone decided to block me in and take his merry time getting whatever he was from the store. Strung it out, got a cup of coffee even. I just stood there in the sun enjoying the peace and quiet thinking of the meter continuing to run. Eventually when he worked out that neither I or the forkie gave a toss he left.

Excellent post. Got me sitting here chuckling to myself.
Dopey you need to slow down. Think and then crack open the brews…
I do my own risk assessment’s for every drop.
If it ain’t safe for me it is made safe. Simples…
and why rush round like a dozy nutter and have a bump… take ya time.
Gawd yesterday I parked up and had an extra long lunch as I had been so stressed… by every drop going perfect. And not getting held up… and still beat my tms time back to my yard.

Another classic from Trigger . I love reading your commentary on life as it happens to you
“always look after your broom…”
It ain’t just ‘Only fools and horses’ that apply to dozy, he’s become the new Frank Spencer of Trucknet. . You can just imagine him ringing in after demolishing the building, in his Frank voice, saying ''hee, I’m having a bit of trouble ‘’

Sorry dozy but theres one constant in a lot of your posts in that you need to rush about and are time limited.
Try and seperate yourself from external pressure, there is no rush in this game apart from what you create yourself, your the captain of your ship just go at your pace.
Do it once do it right, hurry up and take your time etc are the motos I try and work by.
If you can remove the pressure from yourself the job gets so much easier.
Risk assesments although often pedantic and patronising are in place for a good reason, if in doubt stop relax and have a walk round to look at yhe hazards. Prolly better to hit the van though.
Its got to the stage where i dont read his posts, its either on about his green plague trauma or a total load of bollox that normal drivers have no bother with

Half the time the risk assessments have the vans parked where they are most in the way, when better places are available. Like Tesco Walkden… risk assessment says drive in the gate, jack knife around and blindside onto the bay. If the vans were parked out of the way at the top end you could just swing round and back up in a straight line.
I never took any notice of the things, clearly not devised by lorry drivers.
Professional Driver doesn’t see a building. Blames driver on less money with harder job.
But seriously you could swing two lions in some of those places. If a rigid driver can do it in one go then surely a king of the road and true truck driver could manage it?
But your save more time stopping and thinking about it and carefully maneuvering your vehicle, than rushing around. After all if mite be some lazy sod unloading you so a complete waste of time rushing!
If its in a yard you mite get it moved if you ask. When its a “Blue bag holder on the road” go as far as possible and get it stuck there coursing an obstruction and parked illegally because there blocking access to a delivery yard! With any luck there see the commotion and run back to there car and move it, you can try the Police but there generally useless?
