hense you have to click very early to get top marks.
Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t this something that costs marks as it presumes you’re cheating?

If there is a ‘patern’/rythum to the way you click, that can be picked up on - you get no marks for that senario/scene

Sorry didn’t explain very well, you have to click as soon as you see it, i remember in one of my practice ones clearly, video is approaching a t-junction, bus comes quickly into view on the main road WITH indicator on signally left, the first shot of the bus is 5 points as you can clearly see he is going to turn left into the road and take up your lane.
The clicks I did were all when hazards started to happen, I then clicked 3 times at 1 second intervals and still it gave me minimal points, on the double hazard video I received 10 points for both hazards, however 4 of the hazards that I failed on gave me 1 point, hence 16 points lost. How can you tell exactly when you should start to click the screen because I did it at what I thought was the beginning of every hazard but obviously the computer didn’t agree. I know how to tell if a hazard is happening I’ve been driving for 20 years nearly. I’m just shocked that you see someone starting to pull out so you click and until there actually right out on the junction its not accepted, thats crap. If I see a guy on a bike and hes doing 15mph right on the junction line hes not stopping so theres your hazard, same with cars etc. It is total BS and the stats on the hazard perception being the top failing test out of the 3 that are taken.
Theory test and Drivers CPC Module 2 are more likely to be passed by a learner
Hazard Perception has more failed attempts than any test for a learner after driving that is.
You only click when you see the developing hazard, so when you have to change your course i.e steer or brake to avoid. I think it has a high fail rate because people dont understand where the marks are
.

There you go…
However saying that I did on a number of developing hazards click and still because of those 4 clips I only received 1 point on it just gauranteed a fail more or less, I think that in order for me to pass I would have had to get 5 points on the remaining clips. I am going to practice on as many different websites as I can with lots of different clips, I have about 5 websites bookmarked right now and testing on all of them just to see how I do.
I have just tried this site and passed with them.
I have ordered that DVD Rom from Amazon for £4 and afterwords I am going to stick it on eBay for £4.50 try anyway

I have to say it needs ditching, atleast for experienced drivers, we see all hazards early or earlier than the computer deems it a hazard!! I meen surley the quicker you see the hazard the better, the marking system needs to be greatly improved.
Example - I have been driving 10 yrs, failed the test twice!! i know a hazard when i see one.
On the other hand my GF started to learn to drive, has not had experience on the roads or seen hazzards or how they can occur in different ways, yet she still passed this HP test 1st time?
I think people who have been driving for years their brain reacts different than a new learner driver, and this is a disadvantage to alot of people.
On your practise disc have you got a reveiw button to take you back so that you can see where you clicked against where They mark the hazard, maybe if you leave a second between clicks may help - try it & reveiw it to see if it makes a difference . As I mentioned before there seems to be a lack of consistency from disc to disc to hpt unfortunatley
hope this helps

Sure it all helps Bonnie and I do take on board what every tells me
Congrats on your other two passes. I only just passed my HP with 73/100, its really the only test you can’t study for. On my practice discs I found I was clicking on a hazard half a second before the 5 second countdown actually started, which is when I adopted the 3 click procedure on anything that remotely looked like a hazard but even then I was still hesitant and wary of clicking to much and nullifying my score.
Im sure you’ll pass next time and then you can flick a big V’s up at the test centre on your way out, for such a pointless test.
Tim.
Hey thanks Tim, I agree those 0.001 seconds before the 5 point system starts is not funny when you think I passed this and it wasn’t that hard to do, then they give you your A4 sheet and your eyes look down and think wtf and then you check the name just incase the old cow gave you the wrong A4 peice of paper to wind you up.
Mate I really hope I’m not 1 of those 2 failed test geezers that you hear about on forums like this
lol, you’ll pass mate.
And remember the HPT has absolutely no bearing on driving a class 2 (C) truck what-so-ever.
If we were to believe the DSA, then those of us who got low scores or didn’t pass, are the ones driving around like lunatics causing accidents and hurtling towards hazards without a care in the world.
Tim

I know it can mate, I’m only pulling your leg buddy, just joking
I have just arrived back from my hour assessment at Avon Driver Training South West and I must say I enjoyed every minute, well almost
I arrived at 12:30 and had a chat with the instructors in the office to get to know them. At around 13:00 we went out to the wagon and he talked me through the air pressure clocks etc. He then told me to watch everything he did and drove out of the yard. We drove for about 10/15 minutes and he pulled over where he told me to swap places with him.
I climbed in to the cab and sat there waiting for him to tell me what to do. First things first I clicked in the seatbelt, adjusted my seat and steering wheel and checked the mirrors to make sure I had the right view. The instructor went through the gears again with me (4 over 4 gearbox) and told me “when I was ready to start the engine and drive off.”
I checked the wagon was in nautral and started the engine. I then made sure the switch on the gear lever was in the right place pointing down and depressed the clutch. I then selected 3rd gear, checked the mirrors, blind spot and released the handbreak. As I pulled away I kept checking the mirrors and had 1 final look over my right shoulder. I’m now driving my first wagon (ever!!) and loving it!
I drove for about a mile through the roads of Avonmouth and at 1 point an Eddie Stobard wagon was right up my ■■■ (If your reading this and thinking that was me then all I have to say is… ■■■■■■■■■■ the truck says learner all over it and this guy is trying to pressure me in to making a mistake!! ■■■■!!
Anyway during my assessment I stalled the wagon and selected the wrong gear making the engine scream I then drove to the next set of traffic lights and done exactly the same thing. However this time I didn’t stall the wagon.
Now I spoke to the instructor and he has advised that I do the basic coarse over 3 days, 2 and a 1/2 days learning and then the test, he said I’m confident and my posistioning is near perfect and my mirrors are great. However I need to get used to the gear box. So once my hazard perception is finished on tuesday I will be coming straight home if I pass and ringing Avon Driver Training South West to book my Cat C driving coarse.
I do need advice on the gear stick because I kept hitting the lever down a few times when grabbing the gear stick so if anyone has any advice how to stop this and how to select the right gear without making the engine scream I would be truely grateful
Thank you guys and gals for any help or advice you can offer.
Thanks ROG for the email. I will contact them tomorrow and say I want to over a longer period and not jammed in to 2 days. I already know about the 4 hours and what the brain can take on board, my brains slightly different it only takes on 10 minutes at a time
However I’ll contact them tomorrow and let you know whats happening.
Thanks again ROG for the email

Hi Wrams,
You could try a read of this post:
Just scroll a little until you come to the correct type of range-changer.
Thanks Dave I’ll take a butchers now mate and post my findings
Here’s the culprite mate “four over four” gearbox. and I don’t think it likes me
You will get used to the 4 over 4 the more you use it matey , its took me 4 days of training to date and even now i sometimes select the wrong gear
.
