The weekend?

First touch of frost here earlier on. It’s British Gas half price leccy day today, so that means laundry duties with the new washing machine & get the car charged up, No instruction manual with it, so I’ll see if there’s one online.

Out with the dog in the sun shine ,then take mum to pick up her new glasses
Pork for dinner
Got to put a light up later out side as well
And take dog out again after lunch

Just back from taking me old Mam for her Covid jab at the local clinic, I asked when the age limit is dropping, but she said it’s staying the same as now for the foreseeable future.

I’ve got my flu jab appointment on Tuesday. I need all the help I can get, as I spend so much time in waiting rooms at hospitals/clinics/docs all over the local boroughs for us & older family members who have either given up driving or don’t drive. Some waiting rooms sound like bloody seal sanctuaries, with barking coughs etc. :open_mouth:

I’m making the most of British Gas half price leccy day, The cars on charge from 60% to 80%, that’s more than enough for my needs until next Sunday.

The washing machine, tumble drier & oven are going full tilt too.

Busy , busy busy,
Got food ready for the week ,
Walked dog
Took mum down to pick her new glasses up
Put up new light out side
Peeled the rubbish tint off the rear screen of my MG5 as it was pants
Moved my blind spot mirrors , checked tyre pressures on same car
Got to finish dash cam install this afternoon
@robroy I’m not going in till 4:45 am in morning as truck bed not made and don’t need to be a Tiverton till 9am drop is 2 1/2 hours away and I can go A36 up to A303 as only got 20ft box on so can get under Wilton bridge , A35 not option 27t box

Yeah, I hate the dark coming in around 4pm, I’ve got one digital clock left to set the time & it’s the same every year, I can’t for the life of me fathom out how to change the time. I best not have a cider before I suss it out, otherwise it will get clobbered.

Car charged to target, 64%-80% cost me £1.34.

Been to see my Mam in care home, then round to see my Dad at his house.

Then went to see my lad who has just moved into his new house, …Jeez it needs a lot of work but him and girlfriend mad keen….their first baby due around Christmas so they’ve got a lot on their hands.

Got home , wife just bought this so she had a nice latte waiting for me….on my third now.

It makes excellent coffee. (She won’t tell me how much it cost though for some reason  :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:)

Rest of day changed to shorts and flip flops in front of fire .. sat listening to my DJ mate on local radio….he’s just read my name out taking the p.:joy:

Chill out rest of day, wife making roast beef for tea,.maybe open a bottle of Zinfandel to have with it, Catch up on some tv tonight with a beer while my lovely wife sits gazing into my eyes realising how lucky she is.:joy::joy:

Tomorrow (still.MY weekend) out for lunch somewhere after she pushes me round in shopping trolley in Asda (see cameras thread.:joy:)

Yeah lifes good.:smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Nice one, Missus & daughter are the coffee drinkers here, I maybe have 6 cups per year as I prefer tea.

Roast beef Yum, Iceland has an offer on roast beef now, It’s time to fill the freezer with meats & I’ve just ordered one for Xmas dinner, Aberdeen Angus 21 day matured around 1.2kg for the princely sum of ten quid.

I was like you…always a tea man for most of my life until one night wife made me a proper latte….been hooked ever since.

I drink far too much of the bloody stuff which ain’t great, so I’m always ‘‘wired’‘ with all the caffeine :joy:…..

Started drinking a few cups of de.caf but it’s a bit like non alcoholic beer..not the same.

You got a bargain with the meat, I ain’t got the room for a big freezer.

You having beef for Christmas dinner?….’I’m more of a traditionalist, a Turkey or even a big chicken. we even had goose one year, wasn’t that keen tbh.

We usually have a turkey for Xmas but seeing that joint o beef for that price changed my mind, I like making a turkey soup out of the carcass & will miss that.

The urology people told me to change to decaf tea, they say it’s much better for the bladder. I’m not too keen, as I like leaf tea made in the pot.

@robroy I recommend every tramper should do a 6 day week with an early 7th day run in ,to appreciate how precious weekend or just 2 days rest is at home and it’s not all about work , work , work !
This last week has been an eye opener for me and time to throttle back

I’ve had that new washing machine on since 09:00 this morning & missus has just said the bedding needs doing FFS. It’s been well & truly christened, anyway.

Yep…your’e ‘preaching to the converted’ on that one mate.

I’ve done all that type of crap most my working life , 5 nights out in UK, or weekended in Europe etc, …..yeah enjoyable in a lot of the time, but not ideal if in a relationship (as a lot of my mates can vouch for)

I’m lucky that I’ve (still) got a great and understanding wife after it all, including missing a lot of the kids lives and them growing up.

As I often say on here to some of these ‘‘Living the dream’‘ sad assed cab happy types… ‘‘There is a lot more to life living in a kin truck’’……V8 or otherwise.:joy:

As I keep saying on here (boring the arse of everyone ) I cut back to Wed to Sat, I’ve asked to do a 3 (same days as now) weeks on , then one off unpaid in new year.

I even thought about doing a Mon to Sat one week, then next week off, which will work out fewer days in a month than what I do now, …but I’m still deciding.

Just want to spend more time both home and away with my wife, and more social time with family and mates, I can’t really afford to retire yet, if I could I’d jack tomorrow even if I do like the job I do.
