My boy and me went to see some vintage trucks today and I remembered the one that I would have killed to drive when I was a young keen 21 yr old, but never did …a Volvo F88.
I was amazed how small it was now to how it appeared to me then. So I will treat you all to a photo of my cool and handsome self stood next to it

Dream truck and the one I always wanted to drive was a Scania 143. Never had that dream come true though. Never even had a ride in one.[emoji22]
One of the best motors I have driven, 1996, the streamlined last model 143 on a N reg, last of the great Scanias.

I’m glad you said that cos my first experience of a Scania was driving a 124 470. Went like stink, pulled like a train etc, but I didn’t think it was anything special. To me, it didn’t live up to the hype surrounding driving a Scania. I was disappointed with it and began to wonder if driving a 143 would actually be as good as it was made out to be. Still wanted to drive one and find out for myself though.[emoji3]
Ahh that was the truck of my dreams… and was lucky enough to have one to drive aged 21:) You are right though, they are a lot smaller than I remember them!

Would never have guessed with your username
I did get an F10 when they first came out around 1981, also thought they were massive. I remember being parked up next to one on Aldgate London, I was woke up by a young lady jumping out in a state of half dress, and 3 guys jumping out after her, so they did have plenty of room for some activities
while still on mckellars purfleet had new 96 reg 143 running spain what a lovely sound and puller had newer 580 v8 plus r620 v8 but would swap em all for that ol 143 and very easy to do bit of trickery on lol
The truck of my dreams would be the brand new Scania 730 V8 i buy when i win the lottery with all the accessories available.
Then i would park it in the garden a throw a brick at it every day!!!

Yeh, ok, but I bet you would still polish the tank

my dream truck when I started was a daf 3300. at the time I had an old erf.
I did get the daf after a year or so it was a great truck compared to the erf.

My first truck was a T reg F10 with the splitter on the dashboard but i dreamed of an F12 Globetrotter
Yep Me too, I thought that splitter on the dash was so cool epic compared to the 6 speed ford cargo that I learned in. I did a few years later get an F12, including an enimox stack up the back .
But one off My favourites that I drove was an F reg MAN 22.362 with an Eaton Twin Splitter, that would give most other a good run for their money, Pre limiter, and occasionally using a tacho dics those were the days
143 streamline is one of my all time favourite trucks, they just look and sound so perfect. I never drove a V8 3 series but did have a 360 for a while and did have a 164 500 so did get to scratch the V8 itch I suppose.
Out of the really old stuff I’d love to have a go in a scammel crusader just because I vaguely remember my dad coming home in one before he set of to Iran and thinking how massive it was!

I thought the 164 was only 480 or 580 ? Didnt the 500 come in on the R series?
Eddie i also had one of those MANS with the twin splitter B443XBM dog ugly truck but it did go well for its time
