The Rozzers have got a white Scany J20 M1

In the last week I’ve seen loads of wagons pulled up between J20 and J25 of the M1, turns out the plod have got a Scany with a video camara and they’re after wagon drivers not wearing belts.

where have you been hiding for the last couple of years?

most forces have a truck of some sort these days

But they seem to be out in force the last few weeks, I know 3 drivers that have been pulled in the last week. 60 quid for not wearing your belt so the OB must be short of funds.

on the other hand, if the drivers had been wearing the seat belts, they would not have been pulled

on the other hand, if the drivers had been wearing the seat belts, they would not have been pulled :if you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime but you do wonder if you’d be better off in a truck without it in a knock.

if you roll the truck whilst wearing a seatbelt, it will hurt, ask Lee G on here

if you roll a truck without wearing the seatbelt, it will hurt a lot more, as the belt will keep you in the seat

i can’t think of any collision situation where you would be better off without the seat belt being worn

and, please don’t come out with the ‘i could jump in the bunk out of the way’ crap, because, you wouldn’t get there in time :unamused:

It was on the local news that they got a new Scanny R500 6x2 I think it was a V8 also. Nice to see the government ■■■■■ is fat enough to buy that for pulling 0tonnes

It’s a recent clampdown

I’m no expert on police procedures and vehicle procurement but I find it hard to believe that the old bill are actually paying for these units. Maybe I’d believe they were leasing them like Joe Bloggs Haulage would, or I suspect demos are being loaned to them. Good pr for the manufacturers imo.

Or, I could be totally wrong!

It’s got nothing about raising funds it’s about safety if you are stupid enough to not wear your seatbelt you deserve to get done. The same with the ones that run around with both elbows on the steering wheel while texting like the one from an Ayrshire tipper outfit who was that busy texting he only saw a car at the last minute coming through the narrow bit in Sanquhar yesterday afternoon had to leave a lot o rubber on the road the car had the right of way but nearly got wiped out. Eddie.

The fatal4 how can they tell you have been drink driving by just driving past you in a unit and videoing you please don’t tell me they do you for having a non alcoholic drink while driving and I watched this on the local news last night and the camera crew and the bloke doing the interviews were on the bunk without seat belts going down the motorway and also they interviewed a nicked driver on the hard shoulder about why he got pulled which if I am right are both illegal .

A l c:

Yep. They can.

From a similar campaign from last year

Any drivers using a mobile phone, watching a TV, DVD or laptop screen, eating, drinking, steering with knees or reading a map, book or newspaper could then receive a fixed penalty notice.

Presumably the drink-driving mention is if they see you driving erratically or see booze on show in the cab.

Rumour has it Mr Stobart loans the units so there left alone, don’t know if its true or not

V8s are no more heavy on fuel if there driven correctly.

Maybe so, but you can guarantee the initial outlay / monthly payment would be higher than the standard fleet spec units.
