Coppers as heroes , give me a break , my girl ( a nurse )
Said there was two of them in notts shouting a a old chap
With a shopping bag who was nearly in tears
When she asked what the problem was she was told to move
On
NHS staff are trying to help people whilst coppers are as normal
Acting like jumped up gestapo , ZB me there spending time filming
Dog walkers with drones , whilst doctors nurses are trying to save
Life’s

Bit dramatic are you not Rob. These drivers delivering to supermarkets are much appreciated even by me but with all the rules and regs about carona I doubt they will be putting themselves in danger unless like some they disobey the distancing etc. It’s also their normal job and they are getting paid for it. Personally I tend to feel sorry for the drivers sitting at home because of the restrictions.
I personallly don’t like all this hero nonsence unless of course we are talking about the ones that really put themselves in danger. NHS frontline.
A bit dramatic maybe, but not only have you missed the point in the initial photo you commented on, but you also miss my point.
Of course we ain’t heroes , well certainly not me, I looked after number one and took the furlough option,.and I ain’t one bit embarrassed about that, because as pointed out in the photo,.all the gratitude will soon stop when things get back to normal, and we’ll continue to be treated like second class citizens. (So please don’t feel sorry for me Jake,.I like being at home, because I haven’t descended into cab happiness like some on here)
As for the ‘putting yourself in danger’ point, of course a driver is doing just that potentially, IF what we are led to believe IS true,.a simple cough can infect you,.after a moment’s lapse in caution.
As for getting paid for it, you can say that about anybody facing potential hazards big or small from machine workers to front line soldiers, so that point is irrelevant anyway.
My whole point was you AGAIN with your tiresome knocks at drivers at every tenuous (and tedious ) ■■■■ opportunity. :
Edit.; The ‘cab happy’ bit did NOT refer to you lads still working btw, I was speaking generally.

No I ain’t missed any points but you are quite correct about me having a go all the time (no not all the time ) Don’t forget I drove lorrys for many years and am proud of that fact.
I loved the job for many years but it gets my back up when some go on about other drivers when some truck drivers drive the way they do. I love to see a truck driven professionally and to a high standard but more and more in recent years it’s become harder to spot. Thankfully I rarely see any these days. The lockdown does have some benefits!
Regarding your point about the potential danger to a lorry driver…that can apply to anyone who is out and about.
its all a big con. and all this about NHS heroes hang on a minute all you can do is comfort the victim its not as if youre doing surgery . All the routine surgery is off so all the nurses etc who did that work they can be a comforter too
i reckon theres very few road accidents now so all the staff who dealt with that they can go and do comforting as well. the hospitals must be swimming in staff by now most whove been doing booger all last few weeks and thats without the retired staff whove also been roped in.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
thats about the reality of it.
inept incompetence followed my massive overkill .
standard government practice .
we just have to understand that apart from the media feeling the gullible lemmings then jakethesnake has a new puppy to crusade on and on about as well as turning every post into implying that 99% of truck drivers are now inept and incompetent with their bad driving standards now that he has retired from driving and lives in that pot of gold at the end of the M6 called holland.
the medical profession are doing their normal jobs on a daily basis with a bit of personal protective hassle thrown in now.
id reckon they would be less prone to infection than truck drivers or any drivers doing any kind of delivery, but as usual the media feed the masses and we now class them as “heros” which personally i would think detracts from the actions that proper heros endured whether in active service or day to day private life.
end of observation,so over to you jakethesnake for some more superior condescending last word waffle.( again)

You need to spend a 12 hour shift in my wifes shoes, she is doing 3 on and 3 off and alternating between night and day and doesn’t know where she is working next, a bit like a lorry driver maybe, but you are not covered in human excrement for half of the shift, they don’t have spare clothes as they are in the laundry, they cannot travel in uniform, they cannot work in civvies, the paper masks are a joke, its only her contact lenses protecting her eyes, she cannot wear glasses because patients pull them off and snap them. As soon as she gets to know someone they are moved or die, dependant on severity. These are not people with a bit of a cough, they are people at end of life or in recovery from limb removal, cancer surgery or spinal injuries.

Certainly DD I will confirm your pish above is absolute nonsense. Did you happen to hear another 4 on the frontline died today of Covid 19 ?
What a clown.
PS. They are HEROES.
I am not drinking this Heroes pish either. There are tens of thousands of NHS personnel and a very few have died. As farmers say you cant have livestock without having some deadstock. Of course its tragic for the families but we road warriors risk death every time we turn the key. Drivers don’t get a mention on the media when they are called but are dead none the less. Sweden has not locked down and smashed its economy so will be interesting to see what happens there. Whole thing smells of bull dung to me.

hse.gov.uk/statistics/pdf/fatalinjuries.pdf
In the whole 52 weeks of 2019 there were 16 work related deaths in transport and warehousing in the UK.
In the past week and a half the NHS have seen 5 deaths due to COVID 19.

I thought that.
Whatever happens in Sweden will tell the tale,.we’ll just have to sit back and watch.
Btw Tony Blackburn gave us a mention on his R2 show last Friday.

Funny you posted that Rob,
Was on the A13 near Rouen this afternoon
there was a bike cop near a junction, with his speed camera out. FFS
there’s hardly anybody on the roads here, just us truckers

Seen a camera van on the A45 near Daventry the other day. Essential? Could those resources not be deployed in other areas?

It’s a typical derogatory comment from the wee troll. There’s a few on here leave pathetic comments and never back them up.

Depends on the way you look at it? Some drivers seem to think because the roads are quiet it gives them the right to speed, a bit like late at night sometimes.
Was reading an article the other day where 2 car drivers were caught one at over 80 in a 30 mph and the other at 96 in a 40 mph.
If you want these idiots on our roads fair enough but I would prefer a bit of a deterant to keep others safe.
Stick to the limit and they will never bother you or steal your money.

Depends on the way I look at it? …ok.
It all goes down to the ‘Speed kills’ thing .
Thing is ‘Speed’ does not kill, it’s ‘inappropriate speed’ that kills.
So…
Traffic is down by what?..at least 50% ?
Pedestrians down by what? 90%.?
But still your mates in the Old Bill do not give any discretionary leeway, like an allowance for the lack of traffic and drop in potential rta.s
Instead use their famous ‘limited resources’ that they always use as an excuse for doing something actually important and useful, to make a bit of cash out of those people who are out on the road for 99% a valid and important reason…many of which are doing it reluctantly.
If I was caught by those tossers doing 56 in a 50 in an artic to catch a booking slot carrying food, or a nurse rushing to keep an important appointment with an elderly high risk patient in a busy workload schedule, AND on a comparatively quieter road than usual with minimal ■■■■ up potential, I’d be having a word with myself, saying… ‘‘■■■■ this why am I even bothering, I’m staying home where it’s safe’’.

Indeed. Imagine if the last driver was infected, unannounced by the government, and there you go turning the key that was five minutes before in his sweaty palm…
