totally agree m8 same over here in canada /usa they all related maybe 95 per cent [zb]s just had a run in with one oi toronto with a big mouth but being half irish /english he lost that 1 they look suprised when rhey meet someone who doesnt giv a [zb] who they are
Love um or hate um its best to keep on the good side of shunters and they now it,just smile go along with it and get gone ,its not worth the hassle even if most are propper knobs on power trips…

And of course we never see any lorry drivers acting like that do we? Is there some jealousy here because they can reverse better than you?
I used to train drivers to shunt, car drivers with no truck experience and the majority were backing up to bays perfectly within a few hours.
The regular drivers were not impressed and slagged them off! Funny old world sometimes.

This pic is from Dec 2013 a morrisons yard God spun it around too fast a couple of bays away from and this was the result. Miserable shunters at Gadbrook.

I’m a yard Shunter I treat everyone who comes through the gates the same
We have site rules which our gatehouse instructs new visitors on
All our contractors and regular visitors know our site rules
Our site is heavily secure with cameras and I’m often asked to remind visitors to adhere to site procedures through my 2 way radio as my supervisor is constantly in touch with security and sometimes I’m near a visitor whose not adhering so I have to ask them to follow procedures as in keep to the walkways keep to the speed limits not to drive whilst on the mobile phone ( that’s the number 1 complaint)
The majority I do have to ask are ok and accept it but I do get the odd one who thinks I’m being a arse
I try and discreetly say there’s cameras everywhere and your being watched it’s not me personally having a go at you I’m just passing on a message
We had a fatality in our yard where a driver was crushed to death
The company I work for was cleared of any wrongdoing but were still fined
The drivers company who do our transport were fined for failings within their own procedures
I’ll help anybody out but respect works both ways
You head the nail on the head when you used the word…respect.
Unfortunately some drivers do not know the meaning of the word and wonder why no one treats them very well.
Of course they do not like getting told what to do by a shunter because to them he is lower down the ladder(in their minds) but in reality most are lorry drivers who just fancy a break off the road.
Oh and most shunters put regular drivers reversing to shame!

I take it you do not like shunters either. Or maybe you support bad driving and bad attitudes?
Either way this is an internet forum to voice opinions. If you do not like mine do not read them…Simple.
Biggest problem on here is some do not like to hear the truth.
I loved shunting, its my yard do as I said or your in trouble.
all joking aside I asked to be moved onto it for no other reason than knowing my start and finish times months in advance, having said that in busy moments yes it was a case of push on a bit.
its also easier to run the yard if you instruct drivers where to drop trailers and the only ones who had issues couldn’t drive to save their lives and would moan about the big gap when I wanted it in a certain place.
