Harry my good buddy, You need to lighten up & get back to your routine, Let the Malts take all the pressure, & Im sure you will enjoy, Just like Im doing now, Ive had a iffy sort of a day, But once I calmed down & had a few shots I feel a lot better, Getting old has got to be handled with much care as know doubt you all ready know, Have a nice night , Regards Larry.
hiya,
Thanks for the sound advice Larry, I do believe a slug or two of Scottish medicine
will have me right as rain in no time, after all I do have a lot of catching up to do.
thanks harry, long retired.
You will soon be drinking it with ice Harry, when all the hot weather that is owed to us arrives

Cheers Dave.
hiya,
Drinking it with ice indeed, don’t talk dirty Dave, the only thing you put in a single malt is another single malt.
thanks harry, long retired.
Excuse my ignorance Harry, not having drunk the stuff I wouldn’t know.
Cheers Dave.
Don’t worry all is forgiven, As Harry says the only thing you put into it is another one, as to enjoy, And of course if you drink Malts You are Cool anyway, At least that’s what they say Eh, Regards Larry.
Never tasted whisky of any sort Larry, maybe one day I will try a sip.
Cheers Dave.
You must try to be brave Dave, join the big misters taking a drop. At the moment supplies of single is short so I’m taking a VERY pleasant blended…J&B, very pale and very smooth. I don’t think they market it in this country.
I’m looking in to the possibility of getting her a little job to finance future purchases of Ardbeg. She’s not happy but what the hell, I deserve it.

hiya,
My Mother never ever drank, I well remember my Father offering her a trial
of his nightly in-house glass of beer and saw the expression on her face when
the booze hit her taste buds running to the kitchen to spit the drink into the
kitchen sink and my “Old Fellah” remarking there you go woman and you was
thinking I was enjoying myself.

hiya,
If my memory is still working the barrels used to be transported in vans and in
my time the cased whisky was always transported on flats, no “curtains” when
I was a lad but I remember the whisky coming from the distilleries to the bonds
in vans it’s the way the BRS always did it.1 barrel equalling 1 ton 20 to the load.
thanks harry, long retired.

hiya,
Dave, no just 1 ton barrels stood on their end and had to be pulled over into the
rolling position although each barrel weighed a ton it only took two men to topple
them seemingly it was just knack but the unloaders I came across were big fellah’s
I had a go with one of the lads and managed no bother as I said just knack.

hiya,
Dave any barrel loads I carried would be a little light when reaching it’s destination
those oak barrels was easy to drill and stopper-up again with a bit of meat skewer
after having decanted a couple of bottles for medicinal purposes, the deed being
carried out in some layby between point A and point B the whisky being crystal
clear like vodka at that stage of it’s life a spoonful of cold strong tea was usually
enough to give it the golden glow of maturity without affecting the taste.

Careful what you say Harry, you could corrupt some of the innocents on the forum.
Cheers Dave.
hiya,
I reckon some of your so-called innocents on here could teach me a thing or two
I have become rusty since I retired and could do to enlist on a refresher course.

I would think Mr Dunbar is your man to tutor you in the art of tasting the hard stuff Harry, but somehow I don’t think you need much tutoring.

hiya,
As you say not a lot of tuition required to sample the malts, it’s the remaining
in the upright position when you’ve had a few can be the problem.
