I had a mate who always said his Granny was in Australia. Unfortunately at 53 he had a massive heart attack, and now he’s down under.
Cheers Dave.
i’ve never been any good on water , i get queasy just looking at it . with my luck my ashes will get seasick . i’m ok while i
m doing something on a boat , but if i stop and look around the fish get my dinner , i’d have been no good with harry on the trawlers . cheers , dave
Dave you say that you are no good at sea,
It never bothered me, but if someome else was sick in front of me, the smell made me a little queasey.
so I would leave them to sort them self out and get some fresh sea air and it would past. Going to Ireland on the fast craft, people were sick in the toilets, some even sick other places, I spent most of the two hour trip outside, it smelt better.

Hiya,
When the nets are full of pound notes “Riggers”, it doesn’t matter how rough
the sea was you was too busy to be sick, although I once had a relative now
deceased who was a long serving merchant seaman who admitted to being a
bit queasy for a day or two after a spell of shore leave so it’s not only most
landlubbers who get seasick when the anchors are raised and when the ship/
boat leaves land, I’ve spent a lot of time at sea having sailed as far as Japan
and back to the UK and due to the Suez being closed to shipping in the mid
1950s had to divert round the Cape of Africa to get home and it can get a
bit rough going round there and those old pre-war troopships weren’t built
for it’s intended passengers to be comfortable.
thanks harry, long retired.
Whenever I crossed the water, the rougher the better, I always used to go and get me a fryup

Has anybody tried the Asda Extra Special Islay Single Malt Whisky. £20.50, online shopping
news to cheers you up . a government medical report tells us that older people need to drink more fluids . ergo , single malts ( lesser drinks also apply ) are good for you and you should drink more . i wonder if mrs gill will accept that as a good reason ? the government said it so it must be right .cheers , dave

Hiya,
Don’t rock the boat “Riggers” my missus is already under the impression that my GP has
instructed me to drink as much single malt as I think as a reasonable amount she does
currently believe that it is imperative that I follow his instruction to the letter.

Had a home visit from a GP last week. Had an appointment at my local General Hospital today with a specialist, who restored my faith in the NHS.
My only wish is that George Osborne isn’t making false promises about putting £2 billion into the NHS , but unfortunately I don’t have any faith in him.
Cheers Dave.
The NHS Dave is top heavy with managers and administrative staff, the folk who are on the sharp end dispensing treatment do a great job. I went up to the local hospital yesterday (back X ray), from walking in to the hospital to walking out…20 minutes. Can’t complain about service like that. Anybody who even thinks about damaging OUR health service should be hung.
I quite agree Brian. As you say the NHS is top heavy with bureaucracy, with the Nurses and Doctors being under funded. I had two visits to two different hospitals this week, and can’t complain about the staff. But the amount of people doing clerical work is ridiculous.
Soapbox now parked up.
Cheers Dave.
you’re not kidding about clerical staff , when i go for my heart checkups i report to reception , 3 staff on the desk . i get sent to the clinic section , report to reception a or b , 2 staff on each desk . i then go to clinic b and there is one doctor and two nurses doing all the work . why in the age of computers is there a constant stream of staff wheeling trolleys full of patient’s medical records round the hospital , more staff to put them all away until they are wanted again . cheers , dave
Hiya,
At my last hospital visit I had nearly an hour to kill before appointment time, so I visited the
hospital café at the next table to me sat two “grey suits” clipboards on the table not talking
medical business but discussing the fortunes of Newcastle United in about half an hour went
to my department got seen and prodded and about an hour later began to leave the hospital
having to pass the café (open plan) place and yes the two grey suits where still there, bring
back the old matron she ruled the roost and kept things moving.
thanks harry, long retired.
