In the late 60’s just when the black hgv’s licences started in 1970, I delivered, ambulances, dust trucks, roadsweepers, buses, and fire appliances of different types, from places like you say speciallise in certain vehicles. One young chap who fiddled with controls on a roadsweeper , picked it up around the Birmingham area to deliver to Edingburgh council, got a complaint from them the brush was worn out, the good news all the lorries heading south that was on CB, was saying it was green & clean all the north on the A1. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Hiya,
Norm I did a bit of double-decker delivering about that time cash in hand nudge nudge
wink wink you only needed a car licence to drive an empty bus in those days, they was
from the North West to the South coast, they was all painted up ready to go just to
remove the plywood temporary door blocking the platform off so’s people couldn’t hop
on when it was waiting at traffic lights and road junctions at least they was always
nice and warm and it made a change from handballing and roping and sheeting.
thanks harry, long retired.

Those days were about as good as it got Harry, you could earn a few bob on the side. I earned money doing foreigners on building sites, and also helping on farms at nights and weekends for cash. As far as I was concerned the only way to make good money was work for it.
Cheers Dave.

IPenderyn Distillery is located in the Brecon Beacons National Park and draws water exclusively from our own pure source in the carboniferous limestone deep below the distillery. This is the only water used in the distilling and blending process and it is a key ingredient in our malt whisky. The same source provides some of the finest bottled mineral waters in the world.
Could be this one Larry. I don’t know much about whisky, but some of the other Welsh members might.
Cheers Dave.

I took the description off their website Larry. I have never tasted whisky in my life. I don’t drink wine or spirits, just the odd beer and tea and loads of water.
Cheers Dave.

Bad news lads, PO ferries have banged the price of malts up big style (£59 for a litre of Ardbeg :open_mouth: I don’t think so). Less choice, higher prices. Came home with Black Grouse, 2 litres for £30. :imp: £59 :open_mouth: I want to drink it not frame it.

Hiya,
Some time ago, there was a special offer of Spear and Jackson garden tools on a
one day promotion at either Lidl or Aldi, I went got what I wanted as I was
passing the last display en-route to the checkout I spotted an unknown to me
single malt, can only remember it was called Black ■■ I can’t even remember the
rest of it’s name, It’s a store the missus doesn’t use very often I added a litre
bottle to my trolley and at the then price of £12 and that was about half the
price of my regular known brands, and do you know what ■■ it did taste equally
as good as some of the very expensive bottles I’ve bought in the past, I haven’t
shopped there since that time but must remind myself that the next time I’m
passing to pop in and take a looksee, It was equal to most and better than some.

Hiya,
Riggers, Come to think of it the word black was in the title but I think Highland
was in there somewhere I remember it did say it was specially selected and it
was bottled by request for Aldi/Lidl can’t even remember which one, on second
thoughts it was probably a one off special offer the display did stand out and I
don’t think it would have remained in store for very long it was a bit nice and
even going back a few years the price was right and it certainly tasted superb.

Hiya,
Had a look at that one on Aldi’s website, and I think you’ll find that one’s a blend
Riggers, the one I bought was I feel sure a single malt, it is eight years old but
the wording it does say blended but if that’s the one I bought “by mistake” it was
damned nice and fooled me into thinking I thought I’d got a bargain bottle of my
favourite tipple, could be a bit of senility creeping in.

Hiya,
Thanks for that DOM, my puter has been acting the goat for a day or so usually losing the
connection at a critical time, the granddaughter was supposed to call last night to sort it
for me but she forgot, my cure-all for misbehaving computers is a tap with a big hammer
but it’s doing no good on this occasion, I really should be banned from touching anything
with an electrical element to it, computers sat-navs, cameras, mobile phones and many
other electrical gadgets live in a box under the stairs never to see the light of day ever
again, all must haves at the time but when it came to trying to follow the instructions it
became impossible they may as well have been written in Chinese as I’ve often said I was
child of the steam age and maybe I should have remained there.

My PC has also been acting up for a few days Harry, I had to wait for my secretary, (the blessed Dorothy) to find time from cooking for a grandaughters’ birthday party to put it right.
Like you I was reaching for the lump hammer as a cure. :unamused: :unamused:   Regards Kev.
