Not bad work if you can get it eh. Men at the coal face get shafted and struggle to find jobs whilst them at the top who make the decisions and balls things up swan off into the distance with a case full of money and a chance to [zb] things up again.
Someone has to take the risk in business and it’s not very often the men on the coal face as you put it.
Anyone can start a business an be the masters of their own destiny.
So wide of the mark! If you can find the capital thats a different story but unless you have the contacts and know who’s palms to grease then you’ll more than likely fail once you start to look like a threat to the ‘club’.
Don’t know what you’ve been told but you don’t need to grease any palms in this business to make a living. And not sure what club you talk of?

I wonder which shower of sh** are the providing them with agency drivers?
Because I makes me wonder how they’ll get agy drivers to work on site if GG have a high turnover of staff and staff pay rates of £8 p/hr. with the expected increase in fleet size they’re gonna need drivers
About 20 of us from our place had a phone call from Ace Recruitment about 3 week ago trying to get us to join them. He asked me what I was on and said he could put 2 pound an hour on top and that as long as I didn’t write the truck off I would more than likely be in there for 3 year.
I told them I’m happy where I am, I live 5 mins from our yard, I can live well enough off my earnings and they kept me in work when I was off sick with my eyes and when the DVLA revoked my license off me when they could’ve got shut of me (I remember things like that) our gaffer hit the roof, rang them up and gave them a round of ■■■■■, telling them he’s getting solicitors involved as it’s an invasion of privacy.
Turns out that the 2 security staff we used to have work weekends were employed by Ace and they got laid off, so before the due date Ace got them to get our phone numbers off the computer so they could try and tempt us away to go work for them on the DHL contract for Green Group.

What is this DHL contract for the Green Group? Does anyone know?
I don’t know but Pierre stated earlier it’s just down the road from him in Bawtry. In sure DHL have an RDC before you get to Bawtry, if coming from Tickhill you turn left at the crossroads before you climb that little hill just after the garden centre. I delivered there about 2 year ago but I can’t remember who owned the RDC.
The DHL site is actually 3 sites, site 1 & 2 are on high common lane, site 2 is off to the left of the gatehouse and serves a couple of dedicated contracts inc SC Johnson cleaning products ("mr sheen etc) and also the 1st drinks bottled spirits contract (inc desarono, Russian standard vodka etc).
Site 1 is actually a collection of 13+ warehouses serving various contracts ( Ye olde oak foods, haribo sweets, church & dwight, thorntons chocolates etc), rank Hovis occupy warehouse #7 but run their own transport. The transport office for DHL is on site 1, where the DHL trucks are based for all 3 sites.
There’s also a seperate autonomous warehouse 2.8 miles away (site 3) on the Brunel ind est at Harworth, goo.gl/maps/JqSj1 you pass this warehouse if coming from the A1 at blyth. This warehouse is dedicated to the Reckett Benkeiser contract ( household & healthcare).
AFAIK GG don’t have any particular hold on loads out of DHL as there’s everyone and their granny backhauling out of there. Pulling loads that generally won’t get a DHL truck there & back in the same day. Nights out for DHL drivers are kept to a minimum, they prefer them to return to base in the same shift. Having the new Volvo LNG truck might not help anyone tramping in a DHL truck. As the diesel tanks their on Volvos are only 160ltrs capacity.
I do a bit on all sites, but recently I’ve been running on the Hovis contract & it should see me through Xmas

Yeah I work there. Just wondered what they meant by saying they was getting 40 extra trucks to cover the DHL contract. Strange!
Not been sexist but in my experience a women in this sort if job normally ends in disaster.
And all the drivers will be like little lap dogs round her,iv seen it so many times.

After innovate drivers joined Yearsley, they told me that when the money ran out, innovate didn’t pay its agency bills, so naturally the agency stopped sending in drivers. Trucks not moving means no cash flow, and that’s the end of the line.
We were running as normal ,we got back at midnight to be told we were now working for stobart, none of the trucks at our depot stood

Innovate went bust. Yearsley bought the frozen side and Stobart bought the chilled.
Innovate took the Heinz frozen food contract from Yearsley, by offering free collection from manufacturing sites, only charging for storage and onward delivery. They were having to send trucks empty from Newark out to Westwick in Norfolk to load from there back to Newark, all free of charge. No doubt he made similar concessions to other customers to win contracts.
Well that’s a new one on me ,I can’t remember ever doing any Heinz work out of newark ,all we did as far as I’m aware was chilled work .
We were also taking loads into yearsleys ( bilsthorpe ) and reloading ,seems strange if we just took a contract off of them .
It may well be true innovate trucks were going too Norfolk ,but I can’t remember any one ever mentioning it
