With apologies for the hasty and frankly ■■■■ poor edit
You can only assume that Bob Geldof is so spaced out that he has forgotten that he is from the Irish Republic, which isn’t actually holding a referendum.

More to the fishing campaign than meets the eye Harry. I live near Peterhead/Fraserburgh and have seen massive change in these towns over the 25 yrs I’ve been here.
The norm then was a boat skipper, who may or may not have owned the boat. A mate, often a family member, and a local crew size dependant on boat size. When the catch was sold the running costs came off and the rest shared, hence share fishing. This ensured a steady flow of cash into the local economy.
Now the norm would be the crew being Filipino and paid a wage, not a share. These poor guys live almost full time on the boats where they are classed as seamen. The boat can be ■■■■■■■ in Peterhead but they have to sleep on the boats and it’s quite legal to pay them a Filipino crew wage. It’s an absolute disgrace and the skippers/boat owners are nothing short of hypocritical liars for not accepting a good share of the blame for fishing towns decline.
Another part of it is that modern tech has made them too good at catching fish. Google Mewstead LLP new 86.8m pelagic vessel to see how it’s going. Also Klondyke fishing and the Tait family to see the rewards fishing can bring. This wealth is concentrated within a few families however not the general community.
Any increase in fishing area or quota will just make the rich, richer!

So much for EU being good for workers rights. So rather than the idea of British jobs for British workers for Brit wages you’d prefer to give the quotas to Europe instead.
To be fair geldof was shouting at farage. Pointing out that farage was on fisheries commission but had only attended 1 out of 43 meetings? So he was saying farage was fake not calling fishermen ■■■■■.

But that’s the whole point, it’s the eu fisheries policy which has steadily and insidiously pushed work from the small family-owned boats up to the large conglomerates over the last 25 years.

As far as I know De Gaul refused to sit with the zb French Vichy government too.Why would Farage want to co operate with a Federal dictatorship when he’s been voted in to do exactly the opposite,Which in this case means doing his job of getting us out of it not helping it.I’m guessing that neither you or Geldof live in Farage’s electoral constituency in which case I’m sure that Geldof’s and your MEP’s can do a good enough job of handing over their countries to foreign rule without Farage’s help.

Shouting and sticking two fingers up at anybody is never going to be an argument winner. When Nigel Farage has a view, then he explains it calmly, rationally and unemotionally, as you will have seen in TV interviews.
But this is just one image from the Fishermen’s protest, I haven’t seen one yet which shows the privileged, millionaire Hooray-Henry “Remainers” on the pleasure boat in a good light.

Maybe he should have tried harder to stop the “right result” being re-balloted there into the “wrong result” for the public of Ireland.

Farage only attended 1 in 43 fisheries meetings - because it was plain from the first one that the toilet attendant got to propose the same number of things as democractically elected MEP Nigel Farage got to propose - ie NONE. There are reasons why Farage looks forward to being “sacked” as an MEP. Being honest about how ineffective the office of MEP is - is perhaps the main one of them.

Was this the cover of “Trucking Kent” magazine by any chance?"
Lol maybe.
Do you think he is hoping that if we leave EU he will win a seat in uk parliament? I don’t know how close he was last time but I’ve heard that election is under investigation for electoral expenses issues.
If we leave the EU - and actually implement it fully and quickly - Farage will stand down both as a politician, and the UKIP itself. Unless a grateful Tory party offer him a safe seat to win - he won’t ever be an MP.
Just awoke to the sad news MP Jo Cox died. Let’s hope it was nothing to do with Brexit.
We all come on here and have a bit of banter and state our case but it’s all in good humour. It shouldn’t be an issue worth spilling blood over, we did that far too much in the past.
RIP Ms Cox.

Indeed, you can see with some of the vitriol on here that this issue does bring out the worst shout down/bullying nature in some, the mods should show some respect and close any thread related to the referendum until the motive is established.

Sorry CF but I thought I’d made myself very clear here but I obviously underestimated your ability to see way beyond something I’d written into something I obviously didn’t !
The fishermen are exploiting Filipino workers at the expense of British workers.
None of the words used here contain more than 3 syllables so should be fairly easy even for you to understand and as they’re in one line that leaves no room to read between the lines.
But that’s the whole point, it’s the eu fisheries policy which has steadily and insidiously pushed work from the small family-owned boats up to the large conglomerates over the last 25 years.
I’m not saying it may not have some bearing on it Harry but the wider issue of economies of scale was coming in even before then. Fishing is no different from supermarkets, car makers or “logistics providers” in that respect and that has NOTHING to do with the EU.If we’d still had British territorial limits they’d still have fished cod and haddock to unsustainable limits and we’d have had UK fish quota’s put in place. The result would be the same, the smaller boats would still have been squeezed out and the UK government vilified instead.
I forgot to mention the fishermen who have retired to the sun by selling their licences to foreign fishing boats or companies. Selling licences and using cheap exploited labour is something the fishermen have done themselves and has NOTHING to do with the EU. If all the UK quota was caught by UK boats using UK labour then the fishing towns would be very different places.
Easier for them to blame everyone but themselves, you can’t complain you neighbour is ■■■■■■■ in your plant pot if you’re giving him beer and a ladder !
