Hello erfguy
Thankyou for those those excelent photos marra.
I love the Scotts of Maryport photos. The Foden Alpha (PX03 BBJ) takes glass from Workington to Alloa for recycling, and then collects coal to bring back to ■■■■■■■■
On one of the threads earlier pages, I posted posts of all the Scotts of Maryport fleet including some photos of the two Scotts you’ve posted.
Its nice to know I’m not the only photographing Scott’s of Maryport!
Many thanks for the photos marra

A question “erfguy”,were these tippers running up empty from England to load at the Scottish open cast pits? some of them look to be running with their lift axles raised.Or alternatively if some of them were loaded running North what might they have been loaded with ? Cheers Bewick.
Hi ■■■■■■■■ gill The majority running south will be loaded with coal but I see a couple of Thursby’s are empty on the way back south.
Northbound the most of them appear to be loaded but I dont know what they are carrying. Eddie.

Thursby’s are Carnforth based so they must have a collection down south, unusual to see them running away from base empty.

If they are running North empty, they must either be struggling for a load or open cast coal is excellent rated traffic !! Cheers Bewick.
Dennis you will know the game better than the majority on here if they are loading of Anderson or French who are the main contractors for Scottish Coal there wont be a lot in it. Eddie.

Well,it does no harm to be the “eternal optomist” Eddie ? So what we probably have then is Bulk tippers running a lot of empty miles North into Scotia for a ■■■■ rate back down when they’ve loaded !! They must be either “mental” or absolutely ■■■■■■■ desperate mate !!

Don’t know about the coal, but a lot of big quarry orders for stone or aggregate products are handed to clearing houses, which seems to be increasing.Perhaps that’s whats happening with the coal jobs.
Cheers Dave.
The whole industry is shafted . I am so glad to be out of it.
Quite agree David. The hauliers are being screwed into the ground, because all the work for the big jobs is being done by trampers looking for a load home and subbing to the agents.

One of the main mining firms in Scotland ath resources went into administration earlier this month, tied into long term contracts, falling coal price, lenders called in loan, believe scottish coal has paid off some operators too?
I’ve done 3 load of salt up to Renfrew from Winsford and three loads of coal back down this week. 2 loads from Hunterston to Stoke on Trent and one from Killoch to Llangollen railway. Plenty of salt going up scotch at the moment.
