Its a question relating to a possible learning experience or it could be one of things that no matter what, cannot be avoided such as black ice under a few mm of fresh snow

Sadly, he is a stereo-typical example of the type of sanctimonious, pious, conceited & condescending individuals that are drawn to & overwhelm our advanced driving organisations.
IMO, the reason why so few ‘normal’ folk bother to take the courses.

Have YOU taken the AD test ?
If not, then how do you justify your comments ?
Saaamon:
I agree … those making unqualified comments are intent of doing just that

Yes Rog I have. I’m also an active observer on motorcycles, put 6k mls in last year & helped 15 more bikers enjoy it just that little bit more. I’m particularly proud of the fact that one of my earlier success’s has sent his lad along after 17 years.
The objective Rog is to help people, not to flatter oneself with one’s false sense of one’s own importance. Jeez, why does IAM & RoSPA seem to attract so many nutters & weirdo’s.

Did I say or infer that the OP has done something wrong? = no
Please read the question I posed
The idea is that the OP might be able to alert some of us to a situation which we might be able to avoid in the future

+1
And plenty that have passed the test but still can’t ride without stopping at each bend and paddling round it…and who insist on dragging their feet once moving instead of getting them on the pegs where they should be…rant over…
From a very unscientific observation I think IAM are a tad more staid than RoSPA. Grey beard and BMW helps …
The best way for the OP to avoid his accident today would have to have stayed at home. Slippery surfaces and motor vehicles do not mix well…

From you, with your class-leading record of woeful advice, this is ■■■■■■■ priceless. Are you on some form of irony-based bonus?
