W&J Riding Atki’s courtesy of Truck Magazine, July 83. Theres some other wagons in there (in particular Killibecks fleet) however not sure how well they will scan. Anyway hope you like this pair.
marky:
JTB 888P (No. 25 ) was a second-hand motor that came from Sutton of St.Helens where it was one of the rental fleet.
YTB 360N (No 58 ) was named ‘Fearless’ and was new to Riding.
Both were in the general haulage fleet when the picture was taken in 1983.
And I think that 25 was one of the two engineless Borderers that sat round the back of Dr. John’s garage for years, the other being the one that we bought the cab from (50).
I have a recollection that John Huddleston bought the remains of 888P. Sister vehicle 885P is, of course, preserved but not currently roadworthy.
marky:
Would the lack of road-worthiness be attributable to the owners desire to get the ex-Gornall 141 back together?
He was telling us that there had been problems last year and that they hadn’t been resolved. A great shame if 885 is not longer around.
Hmmmm, may be so… the last time I spoke to him was at Gaydon last year, and I was assured that the Atki was undercover and simply lying fallow, rarther than taking harm. However, I think that the Atki would be rather a more practicable proposition for rallying, given derv prices…
