It has been chilly here in Pattaya for the last month or so, but last night it was extra cold, i even put a blanket on the bed as well as the normal single sheet, not used to that here at all !!
As for the fuel stations, during my travels i have often been in a fuel station here and a small bike has come in, bought 50 or maybe 100 Baht’s worth of fuel which was dispensed into a plastic bag, hung on the end of the handlebar and off the customer has rode merrily on their way…
All my trips recently have been in a southerly direction, but when i pass either of you i will let you know and maybe we can have a beer or 5.
Steve.
Yep, unusually cold here in Kan during the night time. You know it’s cold when you see the dogs wearing wooly coats (the four legged ones that is!)
So that’s why you’ve got plastic bags in the panniers on your bike, Steve!
Happy New Year, Ron

Those glass containers in Makro turned out to be beer dispensers!!
Besides the various styles of fuel stations, from ultra modern to the hand-cranked type shown in a previous picture here, there are many like the one here. The fuel is sold in old whisky bottles. Just tell the chap how many bottles you want, pay the money and he will pour it into your tank using a small funnel, and yes often with a ■■■ on the go !!
M&Csteve: Do explain the differences between the colours and the octane ratings…91 for gasonol and 95 for gasonol. That must be gasoline but a very low RON at 91. So what is benzene at 95 RON?

Gazza,
As with DERV in the UK, the red coloured fuel is the cheaper 91 octane and the yellowish stuff is the more expensive 95 octane, they are both “gasohol” as it is called here, i think it’s 10% ethanol derived from sugarcane.
Then what they call “benzine” is good old straight petrol, no bio content, and suitable for older type vehicles / engines which are not designed to run on the newer bio stuff.
