Test without further training?

Could i get a class 2 test in west midlands without training for upto £300 total ?

Ive had class c training , failed test … training company messing me about and busy for weeks… cant even get a date
Im driving automatic 7.5t fulltime and feel ready to try again
not bothered about location , just want to have another blast.

Anything is possible but you will need to cold call a few schools to find out

You don’t say what you failed on but let me answer on behalf of most if not all trainers on here. It would be impossible to pass with no further training and a different trainer.

To begin with you wouldn’t know the reversing mark or the gearbox and if you changed test centre it would be disastrous.

The cost alone would be around £300 and a total waste. Sorry to sound negative but trying to be realistic.

My firm advice is stick with your trainer or expect a minimum bill of £500-£600

Good luck with it

I failed on planning and awareness … a random incident involving a broke down truck with his mates abandoned car behind it blocking hazards on the truck
i got a bit close thinking it was just traffic . he said i should have seen that there was nobody in the parked car which is impossible because i dont have xray vision.
i also had about 7 minors

ive only driven automatics

I will echo Johns comments.

And me.

Pete

im talking about driving an automatic truck around the block for an hour with an examiner not fly a space shuttle
ive had 25 hours of class c training and been working with 7.5t auto daf truck for a couple of weeks
reversing and a warm up so say 1 hour + test

any ideas of cost ?

If you decide to use another test centre you also may want to think about test route familiarisation. My advice is to go back to your original training provider.

Paul

Why not arrange a free assessment with one or two trainers and see what the outcome is.

Under similar circumstances we’ve suggested anything from a couple of hours to a full course. It’s clearly up to the individual what they choose to do.

But we certainly wouldn’t entertain letting someone take a truck for test who we hadn’t seen drive. Total madness.

Pete

Id like to go back to my original provider but they dont reply to calls or emails because they are too busy taking money off the DWP for funded training projects.
they just say they will send a letter with a test date bt never happens
Also i gave the examiner some verbal abuse and dont think he’d ever pass me now.
More training would be great but i cant afford it on £8 ph driving 7.5t

Giving the examiner verbal seems to have cost you dear. He’s possibly “friendly” in a working relationship kind of way with your previous trainers. Perhaps that’s why they’re not getting back to you.

Unless you’re planning on passing in a smallish 12 tonner, I’d say a 7.5 Daf (which I drove for a considerable amount of time) bears little resemblance to a full size 18t out on the road, in terms of size, road manners, stopping and starting etc.

I’d seriously listen to some of the comments from the professional trainers above, who have a much better idea of how things work, than you, or indeed I do.

And I would prescribe a long course of chill pills.

Also i gave the examiner some verbal abuse

Depending on the level of abuse, this will be recorded by the examiner. IF this is the case then you will need an appointment where the examiner (any examiner) will be accompanied by a senior examiner. This will inevitably cause a delay and is the price you pay for abuse.

Hopefully, the incident wasn’t that bad and the examiner took it on the chin.

Pete

Under the verbal abuse circumstances I would strongly suggest a trip to the test centre and offer a heartfelt apology to the examiner. The incident WILL have been recorded and as Peter says may result in the need for future tests to have 2 examiners present.

Why give verbal to the man just because he done his job. But that’s over now and you have to move on.

If you think passing this test is driving an automatic truck round the block for an hour you are in for a massive shock. It takes precision and concentration and a good driving attitude. Even with all that many fail, often repeatedly.

That all said I do wish you good luck.

Seems like giving abuse is a regular thing with this guy-bad attitude.

Shooting your mouth off at someone from who you want something seems a tad counter productive.

i ask him to explain his decision and when he couldn’t find a way to justify it i told him the truth that he is a fat C-word

I will explain the fail in more detail

im coming off a major roundabout having to get across to lanes to position myself for the correct lane leading onto a short road with a bend leading to the motorway.
My main priority is mirrors for motorcyclists and cars cutting in , as i exit the roundabout still on the mirrors it looks like im heading towards a bit of a build up of traffic on the bend
im thinking the usual tyres and tarmac expecting to pull up behind the vehicles
as i get close i see hazard lights on a broke down truck with a car parked behind which was initially blocking my view of hazards
i take a few seconds to see if the car is going to go around the truck but it doesn’t move or indicate so i check my mirror and overtake both vehicles and off i go with no problems caused.
at the end of test he says i failed for getting to close to the vehicles and not overtaking earlier. observation and awareness
At no point even after overtaking did i know that the idiot behind the truck wasn’t even in it or put his hazards on
but the examiner did because he wasn’t doing what i was doing checking mirrors coming off a major roundabout and he could have a good look and see nobody in the car when i overtook them.
He said i should have known nobody was in the car by looking in his side mirrors
thats when i let rip on the muppet .

Daylight was blocked into car by the truck and why would i be looking in peoples side mirrors to see if cars have been abandoned ?
He said im wrong because he has a good ten year reputation
i told him he can shove his reputation up his A hole… Rolf harris had a great 30 year reputation and he’s in prison

Call it a bad attitude all you like but im not waiting 5 weeks for a test to fail for an incompetent idiot and then walk off like a joey with a fail sheet without dishing out abuse
Lets face it the truth … LGV examiners pass and fail who they want , they have statistics to keep to and will do that to balance their pass rates

A free test and you cant control yourself. You don’t have what it takes to be a truck driver Chief. I can just imagine you piloting 44 ton of killing machine with that attitude of yours.

LETHAL.

Can you seriously and honestly say you can’t see what’s wrong with your approach to the test and the aftermath of your failure ?

I’ll take a stab at it dcgpx!

MuddaTruckka - You’re clearly upset, your currently angry, and you have probably put a lot of pressure on yourself passing. So failure, frustration and anger has resulted you becoming uncontrollably disappointed & spitting obscenities (over an unlucky chance incident) that you and the examiner disagreed about. But ■■■■ happens, and we all have moments and points in our lives where things just go against us, and we have bad luck. You can’t change that now, and while you feel aggrieved, what on earth did you think you could accomplish by swearing at the examiner?

But I can tell you what you have lost, your options. And you should be more concerned about your loss of temper and behavior, than failing the test. As if you think you can win friends and influence people by swearing at them, your going to be sadly mistaken.

P.S. I’ve been where you have, aggrieved that I failed a test (motorbike) because of something i felt was out of my control. Plus the examiner couldn’t see what happened from his car behind. But what would have been the point of arguing it with him? Especially if ends up with obscenities… You take it on the chin, say it wasn’t your day, and you try again hoping for better luck.

So in summary, your temper has cost you your options… Sorry!

Yes i have the right to judge any human that gets paid to do something that affects my life no matter what their qualifications.
type the words ‘Driving Examiner jailed’ into google and you see page after page of convicted examiners with crimes ranging from taking bribes to murder
One murder his wife with his own car.
So please spare me the bull that disagreeing with an examiner makes me disrespect road saftey.
