I feel the need to let off some steam and/or ask esteemed opinions.
I have just read on the newbie forum that a member is having their training and tests etc funded by the DWP.
Is this a wind-up or does anyone have any knowledge of this nonsense? If true,i wish someone could have told me to go on the dole and get them to pay for me to become a LGV driver.
My family and I would be £2500 ish better off.
This is his ( Eagerbeaver) post in another forum section .
He’s angry at me, calls me a scrounger and then admits he would have done it himself even though he had the money to pay for it himself.

when i was doing my class 2, bill hughes, the instructor told me he did hgv training for the dole. people that didn’t want the job were forced to do the course or lose their dole.
so what happened? folk were deliberately fluffing the test so they could stay on the dole. what makes matters worse was that he did 2 to 1 training, so it was ■■■■■■■ it up for people funding their selves. This was in 2000 so not that long ago.
I think everyone on here secretly would take the lifeline if they were in the same boat. Personally I’d prefer it knowing that some of my tax is going to help someone who is genuinely looking for work rather than to provide strongbow and smack to someone who has no intention of ever finding a job. Work is scarce in my area so I know I would take the option if it was my ONLY option. As the guy says he’s paid tax so why not? Do we stop his NHS entitlement because he’s currently out of work? Just my opinion…
If you’ve paid into the system fair enough you might as well get something out of it, i just want to know who the training company you was with since we are paying them.
In a country where politicians and Aristocrats use your tax to maintain their riches we have people more concerned about funding training for unemployed.

Keep your head held high MT, you’ve paid plenty into the system there’s absolutely nothing wrong with legitimately taking some back when you need it. And good luck for your retest.
