My instructor says its a guaranteed fail if a vehicle has to slow down after i enter a roundabout regardless of if i get on the island first
… which is absolutely correct unless the other vehicle couldn’t possibly be seen.
So it wasn’t that that screwed it up.
As for sluggish auto, the cure can be to touch the accelerator briefly on the approach to the roundabout. This will “wake it up” if it’s prone to having a snooze. We don’t suffer that with ours but I’ve heard of it elsewhere.
MuddaTruckka:
Unemployed with 3 kids - Ive been given free training with all costs included for provisional, cpc , driver cards , 4 weeks college / theory , practical training and tests
Job to go to when i pass test im hardly going to start an online campaign against them.
Might not be fair based on one persons experience anyway.
That is what is needed - an individuals experience - many recommendations are based on that so why not other ?
Well the dwp are paying for the training not the training company then . so why not name them? the training company will have been paid by us workers.
Paid by me as well as ive paid taxes for over 20 years
i think its a reasonable decision not to name the company during my training
also my training was over easter which may have affected their usual schedule so i’l decide on that when its completed
Roundabouts are a lottery sometimes. You want to go because you know that in real world driving you need to take any Oppourtunity to get onto the roundabout, but in a test you know it’s a fail if you cause another vehicle to slow or change course.
I had it happen to me on my assessment drive on Tuesday in artic. I was sat for a few minutes waiting for traffic to clear, I proceeded then a car appeared at a rate of knots and entered the roundabout. Unfortunately it wasn’t taking the exit I just came from so I caused it to slowdown. Fortunately for me the assessor is a seasoned vet and knows what it’s like… Examiners however are a different breed.
As I said. £2500.00 worth of training etc. Free. Paid for by us.
Ive got 3 kids and have been working for the last 26 years since I left school. Maybe I should go and ask my training providers for a refund and try and claim the money back from the government.
[ZB]ing scrounger. I think its time I leave this thread alone before I type something I may regret.
I became unemployed from the building trade due to a health problem , when i went to sign on there was a leaflet offering LGV training
i applied , went for a meeting where i had to do an easy maths/english test
got accepted and was given a free medical and eyesight test.
had to do 2 and a half days per week at college for 4 weeks which included an online employability coarse for cv’s etc
they then put us through theory/hpt and 35 hours cpc
now practical training , test and retest
so yes ive got the lot for zilch and think its a good idea.
it would cost the taxpayer at least £3500 per year in jobseekers allowance , why not shell out £2500 and get me paying tax again ?
also im probably entitled to disability allowance but choosing to work for a living so dont knock me for taking up the opportunity to get back to work.

Kick in the gonads for the people that are paying out this money for training ,me I’m just about to take a loan to do my c+e , but if I was in your shoes I would of jumped at the chance to do it for free also and anyone else I’m sure .
What’s the story with this government funding ? , is it open to anyone that’s unemployed?.

It was when i applied in January but not sure if it will continue
as long as you could read n write , calculate 2+2 and pass medical/eyesight test
no serious criminal record etc you get accepted
If people didn’t turn up on time or miss the college training days … take theory seriously and pass they would get kicked off
Are you trying to say to me that there were NO jobs available for you. And that being a LGV driver for free was your only option?
You are taking the ■■■■ pal. Out of me ,and every other driver on this forum.
No im saying that i became unemployed and was unskilled and took an opportunity to get back to work
If you have issues with that take it up with the Government
I have no problem with the DWP funding training, especially in a case like this where the OP can’t for health reasons continue in the type of work he previously had, he’s been paying tax and NI before, I think he’s earned something back.
Besides which, if you want an economic argument, far better to train him for something that gets him potentially right out of benefits, rather than shove him into minimum wage work, and still be paying out who knows what in tax credits and other in-work benefits for his dependants.
Tockwith Training:
However I’ve found that a 2nd instructor near the test day can help give trainees a 2nd opinion, help to build confidence and get them used to a different person in the cab thus they cope with the examiner (yet another different face/voice) giving them instructions/directions on test more easily.
It is weird having someone else in the cab. I was doing a job, guy got in to guide me around the complex and I forgot how to drive!
