trust me bud , they are all knackered, 3 trailers today, first , a 8m , the wallboard / insulation was swelling due to water getting in, plus the bulkhead doors are pooped too ,
2 were rear stear 10m , both had issues , first the rear stear didnt know which way to turn when going backwards , mechanic came out and disarmed the rear stear so it kept square, 2nd trailer , ABS had issues, and colem taillift didnt want to go down due to track, the mechanic at donny told me the 13m trailers are off to Slovakia , but the 10m are to be cut up , when the newones come from goole ,

All gets chucked in the skip out the back of the shop.Hope the new trailers from goole are decent most of the trailers that run out of Lichfield need cutting up.
Considering the price you can get a reasonably tidy 13.6m secondhand box trailer, I should think the Shorter ones are almost worthless and very difficult to get rid of a whole batch of them.

Quite right, these trailers are used 24/7 they come in are loaded and go out again, none of the trailers being scrapped were ever owned by Tesco, everything is leased 5 years for the units 8 or 10 for the trailers.
You can refurb a Tautliner no problem, it’s not economically viable to tart up a fridge, the body is GRP and once the water gets in the cavity it’s not got long left not to mention the astronomical cost of replacing a multi temp cooling system, as for the parts I can’t imagine the lease company wants to prop up the haulage industry where they make there money from.

I guessed there must have been a good reason to scrap them, I’ll have to take some tools in next time to see if I can blag any free bits… I bet the grp/wood bits would make a great garden shed!

The way I look at it is that most big firms don’t really give a toss about anyone, your just an arse on a seat to do what they need doin. If you go to work expecting them to give a toss about you, your gonna be highly disappointed, I go to work, do what I’ve gotta do, stay out of the way and go home again without any dramas, just the way I like it. If people have issues with their employer then I prefer to look at why they have issues as it’s usually something to do with an attitude a lot of the time and if you have issues with your employer, what’s the point in moaning about it, get another job

The kit might not be to everyone’s liking including my own, but it does the job and is 100% road legal, you don’t get pushed and get left alone to do the job, I know you’ve got other opinions on that, but I don’t see it, nothing like it. As for employer wise, I worked for ND for a few years and Tesco are a much better company to work for, some of the hoops you had to jump through at ND were beyond ridiculous. The work might be the same everyday but it’s simple, not a lot to moan about from me.
