Tesco Liv back to old ways

It will not release the door on the key locker until the vehicle is tipped ^^^

Was in ther yesterday again,.and I messed up big style…my own stupid fault.
Went to hand notes in, put keys in locker,.and discreetly slipped out looking forward to an hour or so on the bunk with a coffee …got back to truck and discovered I’d locked the [zb] cab out of force of habit. :unamused:
2 and a half [zb] hours in that dingy craphole of a waiting room : :imp:

As long as they hadn’t started tipping you yet, couldn’t you just have got your keys out of the locker, unlocked the lorry, and put the keys back in the locker? No need even to tell the Tesco staff.

You sure?
That would just make a mockery of the system if you can do that.
In theory I could have got the keys out,.went back to the motor and pulled away as they just started to tip…the whole reason for handing keys in in the first place.

See the maoster’s post above. Or below.

Ah, cunning… I didn’t know. I suppose if one asked them politely they’'d override the system and let you get the keys to get “something you forgot” from the cab.

I went to Amazon Warrington in the week and they make you sit in the waiting room now too. Tbf their waiting room is pretty decent so wasn’t too bothered.

1 hour to tip 1 pallet though :unamused:

Not sure mate tbh, it’s worth a shot I suppose. I do know that once the bay physically displays a green light you can insert the fob and open the key locker despite the big tv stating that you are “unloading and checking”.

Amazon Warrington, on the Omega? Mate if you think that’s a decent waiting room I pity you.

Tell them you think you have left the gas on because you have just used the camping stove

Don’t lock yourself out of your cab - especially if it is downhill onto the bay, hence removing that old excuse “You could do a roll-off by kicking your handbrake off whilst putting your feet up to watch a video in your cab… Tooooo Risky!”

And give the appearance of being a forgetful old duffer? Sacrilege!

They will do that

There is one easy way round this one …Waiting rooms should be where a driver wants to go…and maybe shoe horned out but it will never happen :imp:

Well the toilets are clean, TV, sofas to watch it on, several cheap well stocked vending machines.

What do you want, chandeliers and a Thai massage with a happy finish. We’re only only transport meat not Tories on a lockdown jolly

If you stay in the waiting room, it can save quite a walk. Grab a subsidised sarnie and a free coffee / tea and play with your phone for half an hour, big deal.

Half an hour is fair enough, but I was planned for a 4 hour wait. That would have been ridiculous to not have access to your cab for a kip.

Same at Doncaster last night. Read my paper in the waiting room, wanted a ■■■ so went back to cab for one, walked half a mile back and it was tipped. Very pleasantly surprised

When I was tipping at tesco,Reading, the notice said that all drivers must sit in the passenger seat.I was the only one to abide by this rule.Sometimes we dont do ourselves any favours. If I was the manager there and I seen everyone flout the rules,it would have an effect on what decision I would make

Jeez…‘passenger seat’ what fresh hell is this ? :open_mouth: That dreadful place is seared in my memory,6 hours on my last container visit,i recall a huge number of bods in their putrid waiting room and ended up sat on the deck in the doorway, surfing the tablet craving rest strictly in horizontal mode.I’m assuming if they want you planted on the other seat you wouldn’t thus be allowed on the bunk for a rest in the truest sense? sort of rhetorical.

I think the idea is that you don’t sit in the driving seat, so as to reduce the chance of you pulling off the Bay while they’re still in & out of the trailer. Not saying it would make it impossible, just significantly less likely.

I have actually emailed both Amazon & Tesco today regarding the current increase in covid cases and what there policy will be moving forward if the numbers continue to increase, just playing devils advocate.
Interesting to see if they get back to me .
No reply by Monday I will be back on the case pushing for some answers .
