I ran down from Oldbury tonight,at 21:30 pretty much dark, about a mile before Clacket lane services I noticed a slow moving truck,as I did’nt want to overshoot the services I pulled in behind,I was debating after a few seconds whether to go round him as i was running a bit tight for time he was sat at 38 mph
I thought maybe he’s got a problem and is gonna pull of at the services too,but no he carried on at the same speed.
do any of you lot think that 38 mph at night on the M25 is an acceptable speed to be travelling?
dont come out with the arguement that 60 is the max speed and he does’nt have to do that if he does’nt want to etc
Hey, if the guy wants to thrash the arse off his truck, who are we to argue with him? I think 38 is a very respectable speed for a shopping trolley!
obviously paid by the hour and tracked, therefore going slowly means more pay.
I’m paid by hour and tracked (i dont work for Tosco, i’m on general haulage)
but i’d rather be sat at home with my family than crawling along to make an extra £7
Have i missed something here? If i have, when was this rule changed?
I thought the MINIMUM speed on a M/way is 50!

Im not entirely sure of the minimum speed and you are probably right and that is exactly why I posted,I think its ■■■■■■■ dangerous for what my opinion counts for, usually I get some bright spark who comes out with the maximum speed arguement and the fact that you dont have to do the maximum speed. (yawn)
Thats why i stated not to try and fob me off with that arguement.

As if …that,ll be nice on a snowy icy day
his brother must work for sainsbury’s
m25, clockwise this afternoon, about 3/4 of a mile before the m1 junction, this guy pulled out in front of me, as i was about too overtake him, he was prob doing 48-50mph. not a prob, i’ll just wait till we are back on the 3 lane stretch, heading from 21 too 22, and then pass him there. he continued, at approx 50, not a problem.
we come upto 3 lane stretch, he moved back too nearside lane, i then pick up speed again, ready too pass. i got level with rear axle on his trailer, and surprise, surprise, his foot goes down, and just leaves me out there stranded
i was gonna drop off, and slot in behind, as soon as i indicated left, too pull in behind, his speed dropped right off again, so i went buy, and gave him a toot as i passed, too show my disgust, and just got the normal abuse
bad enough when joe bloggs pulls a stunt like this, but another supposed professional driver, always rattles my cage.
Minimum speed on a motorway is 30mph.So what’s the problem? You say you saw him about a mile before the services.Assuming you were travelling at 56mph,you would have had more than enough time to get past him safely. Just an error of judgement on your part,IMO.
You say you were running tight for time. That tight that 20 or 30 seconds mattered?

Not so much you have missed some thing, more like something is lost in translation. I can’t get above 40mph fully freighted up windy hill !! I think its something along the lines of a vehicle has to be capable of 50mph (or thereabouts) to use the motorway. As far as i know there is no minimum speed, as such. Although i do agree, driving like the Tesco driver mentioned above is outright stupid.
There might be a good reason why someone would drive at that speed, though I cant think of one - If I was too early and needed to lose time I would have pulled into the services for a short break.
There is NO minimum speed on any motorway. If there was there would be a sign to say so. That said - It would be possible to be done for obstruction or some such offence.
unecessarily slow
maybe he had a problem maybe if he couldnt get above 38
he should have put his hazards on
Some vintage vehicles would never get to 38 mph on many motorways but they are still allowed on them.
There isnt a minimum speed limit on a motorway but there is on some UK roads marked with signs like these. I think the Dartford Tunnel is 10mph iirc
there is no minimum speed limit on the motorway
however it is an offence under the road traffic act to impede traffic, a driver, driving excessively slowly on the motorway can (and have been) prosecuted for driving without due care and attention.
In previous prosecutions drivers have been prosecuted at speeds of 18mph, 32mph, 40 mph

It defo cant be the same Tesco driver who always passes me on the M4 everynight doing 60

My whole life is FULL of errors of judgement.
I had 7 minutes left on a 15 hr
if I wanted to be an impatient ■■■■ I would have gone round him,but usually when I do this the person im overtaking usually decides to speed up,so I thought I might as well just sit it out for the mile.
max speed for me is 52 by the way.
Maybe someone needs to show him/her where HIGH RANGE IS !!!
remember a mech telling me he got a call out to a problem like this ,driver complained he couldnt get over 40mph he hadnt worked a split box before and no one had shown him (or never asked )

No
Edit > Once drove a 3 series that would not come out of low range, max speed was about 20 IIRC
