Tesco,asda,aldi,morrison etc. salaries

Hi guys, I’m new on this site. Does any one happen to know when the new aldi dc is opening in barnsley? And if you get get on by applying direct or if it’s better to go through an angencey? I currently work for a courier company driving the artic however the money isn’t fantastic and I’m doing between 15 and 20 bulk collections per day. Looking for better wages and a easier ride. Any suggestions welcome.

Slightly off topic, but ad in today’s Metro for drivers IJ McGill, Trafford Park, class 1, Days £21K, nights £22K…bet they’re queuing down the road for those vacancies.

scroll down a bit, the firm dealing with the applications is called Baxter Personnel.

I understand they are opening around October to help out with the pre-Christmas surge, and then opening and operating properly with the full compliment of staff in Spring next year (March or April, I think.)

Hope this helps, Good Luck !

Nice one thanks graham, don’t suppose you know any good haulage firms round the South Yorkshire area■■? My mat works at wilkinsons out of Worksop and says he can get me in but the start times are a bit strange. Not looking for nights out due to a young family.

You could try JP Waltons at Denaby - they may take on day drivers. But tbh if you don’t want nights out or strange start times…you may struggle!!! Usually one or the other or low wages or very fortunate!!!

Hello troops. Please forgive me as i am new to this forum thing. I am currently serving in the armed forces, but due to family issues would like to leave.

If you think you’re going to have more family life than you do in the forces, you’re sadly mistaken. Industry average working week is over 50hrs. Getting up at 5am and getting back home at 7pm and too knackered to do anything on a weekend is par for the course. You can legally work up to 15hrs a day. What time you finish isn’t dictated by the time the shift ends, its dictated by the delays at deliveries and the delays on the road. Many jobs have a couple of nights out or out all week. Wages are back to what they were several years ago.

So if you’re doing it to be home more, stay put. If you’re doing it for the money, you’ll have to put a lot of hours in to earn £31k.

This might be the case in general haulage…

But I average 9 hour shifts, yeah there is weekends and bank hols (but I’m done for lunch) and I’m on closer to 40k than 30k!

Oh, and new kit, no running with defects, no running bent…

It’d take something really really good to better it!

Ok thanks. Tbh I don’t start work while 9.30am and am finished for 7.30pm it’s just the wages that arent great.

Where’s that working trolley dolly??

REALLY??..that’s not the standard money throughout the industry then?
£40k a year for that amount of work is scandalous.

With these supermarkets are you actually properly salaried then for 30-40k and all that attracts with a salary such as company pension contributions being based on that figure and leave paid at that salary?

I thought nigh on all haulage was hourly rate. If you’re salaried for contracted hours of say 48 a week, what happens if you have say 3 days of 14 hours due to traffic and delays, would you only work 6 hours the next day and get the fith off or would it simply attract overtime?

My dad is on just over £29k salary for a 48 hour week. No 4 hours POA on a loading bay nonsense, all shop deliveries so is actually 48 hours plus whatever driving breaks you need. They have runs which take them close to their 15 if they hit a bit of traffic and is 13 anyway without it. This of course requires a reduction in hours at some point to maintain the 48 hour average so they’ll get sent on a local run. Some days he can start at mid day and be back at home by 8pm.

It’s a salary that’s based upon an hourly rate x 47.5… We get that set rate every 4 weeks.

Plus night rate which is paid per night hour worked, this varies slightly depending on start times. This is worth around 2k a year to me.

Holidays are paid at set daily rate plus your average daily night rate from the previous 12 weeks.

Any longer days or extra days are paid at OT.

All breaks paid obviously in the salary. Even if you need to take 2 x 50’s

I’m sure all places work different though.

I have heard so many rumours about salaries from, Tesco,Asda,Aldi,Morrison and Sainsburys. I would love to here from anyone who can tell me how much these guys actually earn and if the working conditions are good or bad. I currently earn 31k a year and would like to recieve a salary round about the same. I have been doing agency work in my spare time for the last 3 years to gain experience. Any advice given would be greatly appreciated by all. I will be living in westlothian area. Thankyou all ladies and gents

Concerned soldier.

If you’re in the Army doing agency work for the last three years and can’t fathom out a wage from major retailers that advertiser them then our Armys “intelligence” is Royally ■■■■■■ i’d say !!!
Can sniff a sniper out in Helmand Provence, can’t quite make out a wage in Scotland, couldn’t make it up!!!

Tesco at Livingston are currently advertising for full time LGV drivers on the tesco careers web site.
