I think…
That’s a ‘no’.
So, there you have it transport managers and bean counters, your business model is screwed.
It’s the double runs part, that scares me off.
I’m simply not prepared to work 14 hours per day.

Double runs , I’d often do 3 but very rarely if ever got back to goole after the 3 rd run , but yes I never did the 8 hrs per days they speak of on here , often had to park in store car park for the night as it was all the time I had left after tipping 3 rd load
The hours werent as gruelling as the 200 cages in a day bit , I d/d was enough in a day , but normally ended up as 2 then I think they thought they were doing you a favour with a single deck & forty odd cages , pallets & dollies
Fri though was normally holbeach , Lincoln , chesterfield & back to the yard & home, so a easy / short day if the goole planning was left alone , if a stobart planner got involved it was here we go again !!

£20ph would keep one there, but the moment it reverted to lower pay - then that’s the time to move on with “bonus whoring”…
I suspect these higher rates are only available via agency, and never in any full time contract directly employed.
If they were - then you’re looking at a situation where all drivers currently still out on furlough or self-isolating will be rather brutally replaced permanently - wouldn’t you?
Nice thought, but I don’t think that’s gonna happen, somehow…

2 deckers & a single in 1 day?
I do 1 run a day now, haven’t done 2 runs for well over a year, not done a decker for probably longer than that. 3 or 4 express stores & im good for the day
I done Tesco for about a year and I’m applying to go back there.
Without a doubt it is a boring job. But its steady work and pushing the cages is not so bad. Pay is good. £40k+ I have seen payslips of 50k+ if you love overtime.
If your not allergic to physical activity its really not that bad.
Also a lot of waiting about. Either at stores or in the yard waiting for a load.
Asda Lutterworth are now doing the 1k sign up.
I’m currently there.
Split days off,2 days off in the week and work weekends.
You get 2 weekends off.
Part loads,ie got to take chill off for 1st store,as well as chill for second store in a already small store room to get to firt store frozen.
Then reload the 2nd store chill back on.
Full cages with stuff falling out.
Drivers have been here 20 plus years and moan even if they get a birmingham which could take 5 hours round trip for your second load.
Probably the most work I’ve ever done to earn my money TBH.

Dozy is the type of guy to smile and accept any job then complain here on Friday that he is not getting back for his Friday dinner.

Change comes from within.
Thats what a buddhist hot dog seller said when I asked for my change - “change comes only from within”
Possible strike action…
Some sites have had an uplift in rates last week. That’s is on top of a payrise under negotiation currently.
If the full timers - don’t get any kind of uplift themselves, there will come a point when they re-consider the value of ditching a job they’ve not actually held for that long (Eg. little or no seniority…) and go agency themselves, emboldened by the fact that suddenly there’s loads of agency work out there at top dollar rates - which just wasn’t there throughout the lockdown…
A lot of people on here have said “I wouldn’t be seen dead working for an agency” - but that attitude must cause a LOT of resentment when you’re on <£12ph and the agency people, a lot of them foreigners - are on £18ph+ all of a sudden - doing exactly the same job…
Little comfort then - “I’m senior, and I still have my pride, and the pick of the school holidays, which I can no longer afford to take on such low FT rates…”

Depends mate. Wherever I’ve worked there’s always been agency too. Not once have I felt any resentment that they may be on a higher rate than me. Couldn’t care less tbh and fair play to them, but unless they’re chipping into my bills I only look at what I earn.
In a way I even think agency deserve the higher pay for having the risk of work drying up (low risk I know right now), changing start times, filling in here and there.

Winseer, not wanting rain on your parade, ■■■■ on your chips, twist your melon or anything of that sort, but the evidence seems to point to full-timers either getting multiple pay rises, or getting market supplements while pay rises are finalised.
Owner operators may be coining it in with huge daily rates, but that doesn’t mean every driver is going looking for a truck to buy. Most people are just getting on with it and the pay rises are coming across the board so happy days.

Actually with Tesco not so much.
The standard hourly rate is like £14.30 an hour. With like £21 overtime rate and £17.30 ish night rate.
A lot of the guys who have been at Tesco for 10+ years are still on the old contracts though and are refusing to take up the new contracts. All I know is their old contracts they are on like 30p extra an hour and they have a few other perks.
So the fact that people at Tesco are still on the old contracts to me just shows that Tesco have not done much too improve pay conditions on the new contracts to make it worthwhile signing the new contracts.
I know there are currently pay negotiations going on at Tesco but as it stands Tesco is not really paying competitively compared to almost any other Supermarket.
I’ve also heard a lot of Tesco guys are jumping ship to maritime and other companies.
In hindsight I should of done a bit more research on what other companies are paying for getting employed by Tesco but I can always leave. I might in November / December if no pay rise and if the Christmas money elsewhere starts getting to silly money.
Also you have to wait 3 months to get your £1000 bonus.

How does the bonus work? I start Tuesday but as it wasn’t a ■■■■■■■ to the decision I didn’t really ask but would be handy to know? Is it a case of just be there three months? I know it’ll be taxed etc.
I know the “market uplift” thing is £30 a week paid in October then £50 a week paid in January.
Im not sure Toonsy. This is the frustrating experience I have had when it comes to speaking to Tesco Management. I have spoke to 3 different managers and have had 3 different answers in regards to the £1000 bonus.
But I did ask about it and he said that doesnt apply as some Tesco HGV sites are still on paid weekly so they get the £1000 bonus split over their weekly pay. Whereas if your pay is 4 weekly you get it in 2 lump sums.
Personally I feel that is complete nonsense and if it is true they are misrepresenting job.
So I will speak to another manager probably tomorrow and no doubt get a different answer.
If you can get a concrete answer by all means go for it. (If I was you I would just phone them, personally I want this in writing)
I’ll ask pm Tuesday my end, see if we can get some consensus
