Hopefully the Tesco pay rise is soon but always good to keep your options open. I’m more than willing to jump ship or move to agency if need be.
We have been offered 2.5% at our DC which is insulting to the new contact drivers. Puts us on less than £13 an hour compared to the old contract drivers almost on £14 an hour. Takes the ■■■■ doing the same job at the same DC for around £1.60 an hour less on the basic rate. Pay rise equates to about £13 a week on the basic.
I think at my soon to be place they got offered the same, rejected it, and now they’re back talking again.
But then again they’ve also lifted rates additionally by 7.5% but that’s not the annual pay rise apparently, its an uplift.
And not that I’m suggesting less should he settled for, but its often worth looking at some of the dirt thats out there. Yesterday I was stuck in that incident on the M1. Annoying really as I was just shy of J16 but they closed it before it so nobody could leave but hey ho. So I got chatting to those local to me and a Royal Mail driver had his run cancelled on the spot, just turn round when you cab and head back kinda thing, while I still had my deliveries and collections to do, nothing altered apart from my own plans as I ended up doing nigh on 25hrs all at flat rate pay. Nice. Oh and nine hour rest rosters again st 4am today.
So I crunched the numbers to see of something happened at tesco like that to see if there was any difference. My top line yesterday was £200. For the same instance at Tesvo it would be over £250. Not saying it’s the best, but its also worth remembering there is far worse out there.
Oh also I believe tesco have given a number of bonuses throughout the pandemic? My place the bonus was apparently that “we still had a job”
