Televisions

I’ve also got a tobacco smuggling compartment that Phil would be proud of.

What I did was get a 300w inverter on eBay for around the £30-£35 mark, buy a digital tv in asda/tesco around £75 for a 19 inch tv/DVD combi and a magnetic digital aerial again on eBay for around £20 and your good to go. I’ve had mine set up for about 3 years and hasn’t gone wrong yet.

God I’m a real pest but how much was that Harry and where did you get it from - the bedding i’m on about lol -no seriously the bracket

I don’t know, it was already fitted when I bought the truck, it’s been very heavily modified inside and that was just one of the many extras in it.

All very lovely to have when you’re away all week but a bit sobering when you drive onto a weighbridge solo and the girl tells you that you are weighing in at a few hundred kilograms short of 10 tonnes… :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Who modified it ? that bloke on Quest who makes stuff out of reclaim stuff ?

Ten ton ? yeah right .

Suffolk ReeferBoy:

The previous owner. The internal modifications were carried out by a Dutch company called Ben’s Cabinets.

Ten ton ? yeah right .

On Friday, with the fuel tanks nearly empty, she went over the weighbridge at Gerber’s, Bridgwater at 8,960kg. Mostly because of the 4.42 metre wheelbase rather than anything else.

Next?

That’s 9 ton then!

bigvern1:

10 tonnes with full fuel tanks.

8 tonnes heavier than your van. And it’s got a bed to sleep in! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll answer you later, I gotta go hospital as my sides have split. :unamused:
Could be worse though. Could be stuck lugging c-r-a-p for Gregory’s in a B&Q reject warehouse.

good lord I hope they gave him his money back :open_mouth: It looks like some units I got in my garage what came

out our kitchen in 1995 .When the doors fall off , which they look like they will give me a shout , special rates

for trucknetters.

Ask for a mouth reduction while you are there. And also ask to get a sleeve fitted up your bum so the gear lever doesn’t chaff while you are trying to sleep across the van seats. :stuck_out_tongue:

Surely, as you claim to have done continental work, you have heard of Ben’s Cabinets?

Good quality gear from Bens, nice peple as well.

Or even worse than that, being a van driving truck driver wannabe who just can’t pass the HGV driving test.

Seriously, I’m flattered by the way you follow me all over the internet Vern. I have a Jack Russell Terrier who does exactly the same and it’s warming to “feel the love”.

No Vince you are the only one who has ever driven abroad

Thanks for the heads up on bens though , I will mention it to my boss when he has to start buying second hand

trucks and fitting MFI units .

Come to think of it I have read somewhere that Scania and Volvo were considering fitting them as standard in

the flag ship models.

Seriously though Vince I think they look well smart and are certainly a bonus to have on your long haul uk

work. Its a big thumbs up fromn me .

Yes, the bloke I bought the truck from used to wait until he had three or four that needed fitting and then Ben used to come over to the UK for a week to fit them out.

You mean after seeing the first one he had two others done :open_mouth:

It looks all ■■■■ eyed to me , maybe it just dont age well , but I wouldnt call it a quality fit .

It’s a good job you don’t have to drive it then!

Follow you? My God! You really do feel important. I don’t recall ever failing my HGV test either. Strange where you get these theories from Vincent. Which wonky cupboard do you keep your ego in?

bigvern1:

That’s because you’ve never taken one.

Let’s face it, nobody would work for 110 hours a week driving a van and sleeping across the seats for less than £300 a week if they had an HGV licence.

I bought one of the magic circles once, it was crap.
I have no idea how the TV arial (antena) in my truck works because I have no idea where it is ? Must be built into the actual cab shell somehow, the coax is there, it goes into the wall of the sleeper and thats it. The passenger side antena is for the FM radio and I figured that might be the TV one too but I was wrong ! When it snapped off one day I lost radio signal but the TV still worked great. We are not as lucky over here as you are with ‘Freeview’ etc. I have a regular 14" household TV / DVD with a digital tuner box that gets variable channels, 40 odd in NYC, 30 in Philly, 7 in St Albans VT (unfortunatley 3 of those are in French). I could take a satellite box from my house as we have 4 but then someone would be without TV in their room. We have over 500 channels at home.
I am thinking of getting a flat, wide screen TV and scraping the big one.
