Fatboy, once again you have completely misunderstood me. I’m not saying employed drivers are better than agency drivers. But when it comes to dishing out vehicles and jobs, the agency driver is usually going to draw the short straw, not the employed driver, yes? I’m glad we’ve cleared that up.

Truckulent, we all know you’re god’s gift to trucking and you’re the best agency driver that ever walked the earth. The normal rules don’t apply to you.

I hope this helps.

I’ve not misunderstood you SCF! :unamused: if you go around the country and speak to employed drivers, they’ll tell you " them agency drivers are better thought of than us " the problem you don’t understand is agency drivers can pick and choose when and where to work and for any duration! many agency drivers have MANY strings to their bows and fair play to them I say! :grimacing: you made a pertinent statement about agency drivers, you may have been around abit agency drivers MAY HAVE BEEN AROUND ABIT LONGER! :grimacing: HTH :sunglasses:

I don’t work for agencies my friend…only direct. Also, I spend a fair bit of time clearing the crap out of the cab left by the full time drivers, and judging by the posts here you have the misfortune to work for a firm that are far from the best in the business…

You mean you throw away all the full time drivers belongings? That’s not very nice.

Before I started working at Taylor’s, I heard a lot of negative stuff about them. I gave up quite a good (non-driving) job to start driving for them, despite being strongly advised not to by several people. But as a newly qualified driver I was very keen to get into this game, so I decided to take the chance.

Over a year later and I’ve got no regrets and no complaints whatsoever.

They might not be the best in the business as you say, but they certainly aren’t the worst. It’s easy, regular work and mostly decent kit. Some of it is past its prime, but it’s steadily being replaced with shiny new stuff. The people are good, both in the office and the other drivers. There’s a couple of nob head drivers, but you get them everywhere. They must be Chas’s mates that he was talking about earlier.

I’ve had the opportunity to move elsewhere a couple of times but I haven’t bothered. I’m more than happy at the moment and I think the OP would do well to make his own mind up about the company. It’s not like he’s got anything to lose apart from the fuel to get down here. If he doesn’t like it, he can just go back to being an agency

I hope this helps.

Problem is, at the place in question it doesn’t work like that does it? Can’t say I ever had a crap job there, usually 1 drop with 1 collection on way back. Same with the truck, the majority are crap so no different to the employed lads. Thats what I was seeing on the dayshifts anyway.

To the OP…Go and try it for yourself. Some people here will be genuine, others most definitely are fakers. The only way you will ever find the truth, is to do it yourself. No-one else to blame then is there?

Nope, I don’t mean that as you are well aware… and incidentally, facetiousness doesn’t contribute anything to the post… :grimacing: :grimacing:

As you sound like you’ve never worked for anyone except one company, you don’t have much to compare it to really…I thought the first firm I worked for was okay, until I went somewhere that was! I also think the OP should make up his own mind too…but he did ask for other drivers’ opinions…and most of them are pretty negative.

We will see what the OP thinks later this week and into next and the next…!

I got a job there at the end of last month, would have been happy there but on my first day I received a phone call to tell me that I’d been successful in my application for a job I thought I had no chance of.

Mr. Taylor seems like a honest, down to earth bloke. If this job doesn’t work out for any reason Taylor’s will be the first firm I call for a job

Quite simply,
My job is awesome!
I’m out all week, long runs all over the country, almost all forklift tips.
No complaints

I’m one very happy man right now :sunglasses:
