Does anyone know if there’s a guide online anywhere to what you need to actually do to be ready for your inspection when applying for TASCC registration? I’ve got the application form and all the other stuff that came with it but it would be nice if somewhere there was a nice simple list of what you need to do and what documents you need to have.
If you don’t know what TASCC is then this link might enlighten you
As an extra question, for those of you who have been through one, what does the actual TASCC inspection involve? Is it just a check that you have all your paperwork in order then a quick look at the truck to make sure it is clean? Or is there more to it than that?
Our outfit got the tascc accreditation last year, from what i can make out there main thing is traceability, you need to keep exact records of all loads carried and all and any cleaning processes carried out, saying that some of the tippers that come into some of the mills we go in I wouldnt say theyve ever seen a brush, inside or out!

they will also need too see what kind of sanitiser you use + invoice for it, on your cleaning sheets you should have written down everytime you washed the outside of your rig as well (max 2weeks interval) as well as how the inside was cleaned, have at least 18 months worth of cleaning sheets ( unless its a brand new trailer). they have started getting very fussy, the one we had last year failed us because we didnt have the invoice for the sanitiser (had too buy a new 25 ltr drum too get it). never mention you run with sheet off as thats a no no on food chain work (but plenty do it). thats just some of it but i’ll ask my boss 2moz n i’ll let you know what he says
I’m just working through all this now making a folder full of bits of paper to show them when they get here.
Just re-read this thread and I don’t get this bit:

Why do they need you to show the receipt? I will initially be using the pressure washer and sanitiser at the yard of one of my customers and so I don’t have a receipt as it wasn’t me who bought it. Seems daft if I have to go out a buy some just to tick a box.
I think I’ve about got the rest sussed. It’s a heck of a lot of bits of paper just to convince them that you’re going to keep the trailer clean and not carry anything nasty…

I found in the past, that they were all fairly human, if a touch ■■■■ at times, if you say you’re using a customer’s washing facilities and have a pic of the label of the sanitiser they use. You should be ok I reckon.
Cleaning records and Last load records are the big things, I used to draw up a cleaning plan, which used to make em fairly happy

I’ve printed out the cleaning record sheet from their site which by the time they’ll come will have a line filled in for cleaning+sanitising. The last three loads is easy as until they’ve been I won’t be carrying anything so it’ll be an empty list. I have the letter from the previous operator of the trailer detailing the last 3 loads they carried with it. My method of recording it going forward will be the sheet that is retained in the collection/delivery ticket book. I like the idea of a cleaning plan, I’ll do one of those.

Ta,

If it’s not on the TASCC register, make sure you have one saying that ‘to the best of their knowledge, the trailer has never carried anything on the TASCC excluded list and get them to sign it’

The letter I got from the place I bought the trailer already has that on together with the last 3 loads. The trailer came from a large well respected tipping trailer dealer so I think it’s safe to assume the letter will be OK for the TASCC requirements.

Got my inspection on Tuesday. I hope I’ve got it all sorted. The trailer is getting a thorough clean and sanitise tomorrow morning and then in the afternoon I’ll but putting the finishing touches to the paperwork.

Just a tad nervous…

Don’t be Paul
I’m sure you will have come across people, in the industry, who make a total mockery of TASCC etc. The auditors know this too. If you show that you are willing to embrace their system, you will have no problems. I found the TASCC audit one of the easier parts of running trucks.
That wasn’t too bad at all. My only non comformance was the fact that I don’t have my O-Licence yet which obviously I knew I was going to fail on before she even arrived. All I need to do when it comes through now is to fax/email a copy to PAI and I’ll get my certification.
