Tarmac tippers

An interesting article from 1953.

T.naughton, Manchester

Mmmm, the interim livery…for the Tarmac trucks, before its all LaFarge :frowning:

Does anybody have any pics or contact details for the lad who put a FH cab onto a FM7 6x4 tipper?

It was in a magazine years ago, i think it was painted in tarmac colours

Anyone know this erf breaker it was based at butlers yard after the takeover by tarmac in 1979.

I think we’re seeing the first effects from the take over up here now, all last Lafarge trucks have been hauling out of a Tarmac quarry and helping them on Motorway resurfacing.

My first wagon ■■■■■■■ l10 and spicer box

Don,t remember that wagon Barry? Where did you run that one out of? First wagon i drove for Mark Holden in Bankfield was a Sed Atki 301 with 250 L10 ■■■■■■■ and spicer box Reg No F52 EMB . A Lad on the O/D SCHEME from Darwen ?( He had a Merc 6 wheeler later on) bought it of Mark.

I was based at Sandside near milnthorpe 1993/94. The chap from Darwen was Steve Walsh remember Spud he made his life a misery and he packed in years ago. Shortly after operation Flintstone :imp:

How about this one mark ? I only kept the Atki about ten months bought the scania of a lad from leapers wood (wimpys then) called Brian Jenkinson.

Depending on times ect… Tarmac Duck, you may remember this one from Sandside.

Thanks to David Smith (Truckfing) for this image.

Was my grandads, run out of Sandside in probably Early to mid 90’s…
