talking

Why is it a lot of drivers park up, pull there curtains round and sit watching telly. Why dont they talk to the drivers arround them. I allways carry a few beers and have a laugh with people. I know Im odd just like a bit of interaction after a days work.

All i want to do after a day in the saddle, especially if i only have a 9hr rest, is to park up, do my paperwork, cook some dinner, and maybe watch a film…by the time i have done that there aint much time left to sleep, especially if you factor in a shower too…last thing i wanna do is listen to some bs from other drivers and make smalltalk with them…i like my own company and privacy…horses for courses and all that…each to their own…not being unsociable or anything, just the way i am…as for a few beers, well i don’t touch the stuff during the week…too risky :sunglasses:

fair enough. I allways go for a walk, but if its a nice evening the last thing I want to do is sit in a stuffie cab

You, sir, obviously haven’t tried talking to the majority of drivers on the road these days :unamused: :grimacing:

The only bull I want after a shift is the type that comes in either Sirloin, Fillet, Rib-Eye or Rump varieties.

Free beer! Wow, that definitely better than a TV ! Where are you usually parked? :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

I,m old enough to remember (oldfart alert :unamused: ) when it was normal for drivers who were parked up together, as a matter of course to socialise either in the pub or nearest cafe, I know you used to, and still do meet the odd bellend,. but most were just normal guys like yourself, a lot of drivers now,( not all), don,t even look at you, let alone speak. and to answer Mr Ripper it,s only risky if you go out and get ■■■■■■■ or have a few too many drinks, what,s wrong with a pint with a meal say if you are going to have 11 or even 9 off?

Absolutely nothing, it would be rude not to! :stuck_out_tongue:

well if you see a couple of drivers with a disposable bbq or 2 on an industrial estate this week could well be me!!

its the same when sat in waiting rooms at rdc etc u only ever seem to get the one spouting bs about how great he is n how crap everyone else is or telling you the best way to run his bosses firm :unamused: its no wonder we dont talk to one another these days me personally will gladly have a chat with anyone about anything tv/sport/cars etc il even go mad and offer em a brew from the machine somethimes

depends where your parked up some off the weirdos in the laybys it’s no wonder curtains are kept closed :unamused: Dont mind having a chat with other drivers it’s just alot off the time it tends to be the bs spouting driver that talks and you can never get rid off them.

That’s the way i remember it was, if it was your first time at a car park the other drivers would show you a good place to wash up and tell you what pubs had decent food, we would usually all go together. And like you say, not many bell-ends but the one that liked to tell us of his fantastic adventures.

Charles

When I started we would be in digs. If anyone started spouting about lorries or places wot I have bin then they would get shouted at.

After tea we went to the pub and that’s why I stoppd buying rounds:)

Some of my colleagues will only speak A-if they want to know something B-if they want something…

Did it ever occur to you that people see you coming?

I tend to split my breaks and park away from where most of our drivers do. They like the quarrys lorry park where they can bemoan the company, job and customers. If i do park amongst and im asked what work ive got ill tell them, plus a fake backload after each to give them something extra to cry about…

I tend to park up In the same places, and get to know the regulars who are there as well… Don’t make habit of a full scale evening with them though as the bs would certainly be flying…

A flat screen in the lorry for 2 years and watched it twice… Or three times thus it is now making a decent ornament on dinning room table back home…

Will go out at least once a week for steak with a non driver friend if I’m in my normal parking place…

I to would go for a walk just to pass the time…

As for the drivers in RDC, well I’m the only one here and that’s why I’m doing cyber driver thingy…

James

you stirer Nathan :open_mouth: ,are you on the cb ?
