most people in the non lorry driver world cannot believe i am a lorry driver… i know all you guys think its nothing… but people i meet everyday are amazed!

As for the hard to get reverse thing, that might just depend on the truck. The MAN TGA.LE’s we had were evil to put in reverse and not exactly light in the forward gears. The Renault i drove yesterday, the Scania etc all have really light gears and the Actros is just a switch.
Something you could try with the shutters is to get a long length of strap with a hook on the end. Hook it to the ■■■■■■■■ the shutter then feed it under the bumper and try pulling it as if you were pulling the truck backwards, that should pull the shutter down. You can normaly pull a lot more than you’re own body weight.
There are plenty of blokes that have trouble with various things, they’re all too macho to admit it though.

indeed i am single aidey, through choice, i didnt think it was fair on my ex girlfriend being sat all week waiting for me to come home just for 2 days, sometimes only 1, so i done the right thing and ended it 6 months ago on good terms, so shes no longer a truckers widow and im no longer feeling guilty, it took more balls to do that than it did to sit here sniping at someone just because they have other clothes than hi vis vests and steelie boots.
why dont you get some balls and just admit you was a little harsh in what you wrote about someone you dont even know the first thing about, rather than turn this into a thread thats just going to go down hill cus balless wonders carnt admit there wrong!!!

Would be inclined to agree, Dabes…it was the bit about the reverse gear/fifthwheel pin being hard to do that got me wondering. I’ve got clinically quantifiable weakness in my arm muscles and even I can get reverse and pull my fifth-wheel pin unaided.
