Absolutely agree, would be a different story if it was their mother…
Thought the moderators would have had a bit of sense & deleted the posts!

No posts should be deleted, it is sad but why not pills or a gas oven, she has traumatised another driver just trying to earn money to keep a roof above his families head. You only pay “bedroom tax” if you are on benefits, why should a woman living alone have a three bedroomed council house or receive housing benefit for same?

i’ve got to agree with that

…and what kind of person goes running to the tabloids when their mother kills herself and then agrees to be photographed holding her badly written suicide note? This whole story stinks.

Taking into account some of the responses on here withregards the sucicide i just hope some of the heartless contributors ever in life get close to the feeling of reaching out for the darkside.

Once again The Verve proved totally wrong!

some of us have.

Blaming the government or David Cameron is silly. Can we all live in houses as big as we want paid for in case one of us decides to commit suicide?

People in this country moan on about youngsters not working but why should they when all they’re offered is a crappy bedsit to rent that eats up most of their wages when others are being paid to occupy houses that a young family in work could buy.

some of us have.

At least two others have too!

Friend of mines old man was a train driver,he had 9 “jumpers” in his career.

He once said to me that they didnt bother him “[zb] them” he said they just want to take some bugger down with them.

The ones who really got to him was the ones who didnt know it was coming, drunks, kids on mopeds, crossing “fools”,barrier “meat” etc.

Like he said they probably missed the 8.45 so they took the 9.15.who bloody cares.

RIP to the lady and hope the driver can deal with it. I know the rail companies pay for counselling as they often get this so hope the driver gets some support.

FFS 2013 and people are topping themselves over £20 :frowning:

There is a bit more on this in the Mirror today:

mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/be … er-1887522

The Waitrose shift manager said: “The lorry driver was in the cab. She was on the ground.

"I gave her chest compressions to try to bring her back but there seemed to be a lot of internal injuries. She didn’t say anything. I think she had gone.”

The boss of the firm whose lorry hit Stephanie told how the driver, a man in his 50s, was left traumatised by the incident.

Ray Bartram, of Ely, Cambs, said: “He’s a good guy and this has been horrible for him. People shouldn’t forget the driver in this.

I would be a extremely wary about giving anyone chest compressions in that sort of accident but he was obviously trying his best in a pretty hopeless situation.

I just don’t like the way the Mirror keep getting anyone involved in these tragedies to score political points for them.

Mike Wallis braved traffic to reach her stricken body, but his efforts to resuscitate the mum of two failed.

And he begged David Cameron to scrap the tax to prevent any more householders taking their lives as Stephanie did because she could not afford to pay.

You do wonder if getting a job or moving crossed her mind?

Her (grown up) kids knew the state she was in (not eating properly, unable to afford to put credit on the electricity card) allegedly because of the so-called bedroom tax. Why didn’t they stump up 10 quid a week each to help her?

Get over yourself man :unamused: . The only sympathies here lay with the trucker. Like others have already said, where were the rest of her family when this [zb] was going down? :bulb: The hard truth of the matter is that no-one is “entitled” to anything free gratis. If you want someone to provide a roof over your head for free then you get what you’re given and either like it or lump it. If that means a flea-ridden bedsit in the middle of some ghetto then so be it. Don’t like it? Tough! Feel free to find alternative accommodation out of your own pocket. She is (was) just another leech from the “I’m entitled to” brigade that expected to be handed everything on a plate and not pay a penny for any of it.

Personally I don’t see the problem with the so-called bedroom tax. Don’t like the terms/location? Go and do some work like the rest of us have to do (you know, those of us indirectly paying through our taxes for you to live by yourself in your cushy 3 bedroom semi) and then you’ll be able to afford a place of your own! :bulb: Until then, stfu whining and be thankful you’ve even got a roof over your head as many poor [zb]s haven’t. :bulb:

Sympathy not just with the truck driver but with the people who have turn up and deal with the mess.

If ever there was an argument against the bs idea of socialism that’s one of the best.Although exactly the same thing should apply in regards to ‘all’ council house tenants and the buyers of ex council houses, such as bulldozing all those council estates built for London’s population in so called Greater London over the years, including the ones which have effectively been given away to their tenants to make some profit on in the private housing market. If London hasn’t got room to house it’s population and they don’t want to save up for a deposit and buy a privately funded one in their own place, not in the surrounding counties, then tough.

The driver was doing the right thing, if she wasn’t breathing! The first rule of First Aid is to preserve life, while we are often told not to move people who have had back/neck injurys the one rule that overides everything in first aid is to preserve life, keeping oxygen going to the brain is doing just that, the brain starts to die after 4 mins of no oxygen those chest compressions could have saved her life without them she was definatley going to die, but there is always a chance if you can keep the brain going.

She may have stopped breathing but I understood you only ‘pump the chest’ if there is no pulse.
In the heat of the moment that could have been very difficult to ascertain. However if she has me merely stopped breathing would it not have been a safer option to just give her mouth to mouth resuscitation ( given her injuries)? All we have from the Mirror article is,

“She didn’t say anything, I think she had gone.”

and not “she had no pulse”

However it is many years since I have been on a first-aid course and accepted practices may have changed since then.

Wow, this one made my eyes water, but I agree, I do not believe all this “there are no smaller properties for people with too many bedrooms to move in to” lark.
