Hi all, just thought I’d post on here to gather opinion on some bikers with a death wish.
Yesterday while coming out of London on the M11 just passed junc 8 at stansted airport where the road rises, I was overtaken by 2 transit vans closely together, nothing wrong in that… Except at the same time a complete ■■■■ on a bike passed between us doing a ridiculous speed. He was in full military uniform and had a bag on with a para reg “Pegasus” badge on. Now I’ve only been driving for a living 2 weeks having just left the military but this is plain suicidal and even the guy in the second van was amazed at what he saw, I know cos he let rip on the horn and flashed his lights, just like I did.
We exchanged glances as if to say “did that just happen?” and then watched as the biker done it again only this time between a stobart lorry overtaking a Dutch registered lorry… Bad enough doing it when I saw him at the last minute an moved to the shoulder to give him the room, but I hate to think what would have happened if he wasn’t seen going between the other two as both drivers would have been on the outside of where he was.
There’s plenty of signs saying think bike, but in his case it should say think organ donor.
Would have been an interesting chat with plod when handing over the onboard footage from my lorry at the side of the road when they scrape him off the back wheels of someone unfortunate enough not to have seen him.
see them all the time, complete nutters some of these ‘bikers’.i ride a Harley,so rarely get to overtake anyone

Corrected that for you
But as a biker myself too , I know what your saying and where your coming from. Ride Safe.
Progressive risk taking or spur of the moment, that’s why I now ride a Harley and a old Bmw. Pipe and slippers time.
My bike makes 125hp & weighs 215kg, it’s tuned for acceleration rather than top speed. 0-60mph is approx 3secs & from a standing start I can travel 1/4ml in 10.8 seconds.
Top Gear have proven that a 1 litre sports bike can out accelerate an F1 car up to the point that the cars aerodynamics create grip.
Unless you have experienced this level of performance you will never understand. There is nothing on the road that will out accelerate me up to 60mph & you’d need to spend over £100k for a car that would beat me from 60 - 100mph.
Sometimes, I will use that performance to do things that you will think of as dangerous, to me I’m just pointing it somewhere & using this performance to it’s maximum.
Sometimes I’m just doing it to show off . . . 'Cos I can.
If that ■■■■ come off his bike I bet the fingers point at said truck or van drivers
I would still report it just coz he acted like a total ■■■■
Sounds like famous last words to me Chas…

Hope you realise how much of a ‘tool’ you sound
A high performance bike begs to be used at the high revs end.I had a Honda Cbr 1000,it hated sticking to speed limits and it sounded like the engine was being damaged if going too slow.Gave it some welly to clean off the gunk and deposits in the engine.
My favourite bikes were the Yamaha RD 500 liquid cooled power valve system.
Yamaha FZR 1000 or 750 Genesis.
RD or RZ 350.In Kenny Roberts black and yellow markings.
DT 125 and 175.The Tenere with the high up fuel tank.Or the castrater if you crashed.

Blimey 3 seconds? That’s a bit sluggish. Maybe you should lose some weight…

I don’t think self awareness is one of his strong points to be honest.
During the recent hot weather, it made me cringe every time a biker went speeding past me wearing just a T shirt and shorts

so you’re prepared to risk your LGV license just so you can ‘show off’?
I think everybody knows how dangerous riding a bike like that is, but I also understand where Chaz is coming from having ridden big sportsbikes for 25 years.
If you haven’t experienced the acceleration or speed of one of these machines, it is hard to understand but it triggers like a big rush to your brain and all sensibilities and safety go out the window.
I used to see riding like the OP is talking about on a daily basis in the UK but I moved to Canada 6 years ago and I have never in that time seen a biker do anything more crazy than go a few km’s over the limit, they even wait in a queue of traffic rather than riding to the front.
Chaz, if you haven’t seen them already have a look on youtube for Ghostrider riding around the Peripherique in 11mins & the 300km nutter on Vancouver Island.

Well found lol
I’m all for fast bikers, always a good supply of much needed organs for those waiting on the transplant list…
That’s got to smart a bit !!
