Hi all, just thought I’d post on here to gather opinion on some bikers with a death wish.
Yesterday while coming out of London on the M11 just passed junc 8 at stansted airport where the road rises, I was overtaken by 2 transit vans closely together, nothing wrong in that… Except at the same time a complete [zb] on a bike passed between us doing a ridiculous speed. He was in full military uniform and had a bag on with a para reg “Pegasus” badge on. Now I’ve only been driving for a living 2 weeks having just left the military but this is plain suicidal and even the guy in the second van was amazed at what he saw, I know cos he let rip on the horn and flashed his lights, just like I did.
We exchanged glances as if to say “did that just happen?” and then watched as the biker done it again only this time between a stobart lorry overtaking a Dutch registered lorry… Bad enough doing it when I saw him at the last minute an moved to the shoulder to give him the room, but I hate to think what would have happened if he wasn’t seen going between the other two as both drivers would have been on the outside of where he was.
There’s plenty of signs saying think bike, but in his case it should say think organ donor.
Would have been an interesting chat with plod when handing over the onboard footage from my lorry at the side of the road when they scrape him off the back wheels of someone unfortunate enough not to have seen him.
As I may be joining the heart transplant list soon can all Looneys with Type A + blood befriend me before riding ! You may then ride it like you stole it everywhere, as you may be helping my old age.
Sorry if that offends some …but its a selfish Survival thing for me.
Heres one on the M5 with police behind him. Bet he wished he had used his mirrors

Unless you have experienced this level of performance you will never understand. There is nothing on the road that will out accelerate me up to 60mph & you’d need to spend over £100k for a car that would beat me from 60 - 100mph.
Would just like to correct you on this as… you could buy a 25K Skyline R34 GTR and leave you standing or a brand new R35 and level peg with you.
I had a friend die on a bike acting like this so plain stupidity really.

There was a time when we used to hunt down Skylines, in the days before the chavs & drug dealers discovered them they were a ‘connoisseurs’ car. By far the best drivers car ever in their day.
Sadly, you are wrong. Even a middleweight 600cc would leave one standing.
As for the R34, I’ve yet to meet one owned by someone who could use it. They tend to only come out on sunny, special occasions, driven by boring old middle aged software developers or accountants looking for a thrill.
I’m sorry to hear about your friend, would your friend be happy that you think of him as stupid?

An R34 will do 0-60 in 2secs… they are a veyron killer. can buy a 600-700bhp one for 25-30k
And the R35 50K… 10K on a stage 2 set up and your talking 0-60 2secs again and one of the best launch control systems out there still.
And I told my friend that he was stupid the way he rode his bike and one day it would catch up with him and one day it did sadly.
On the contrary I would like to own an R6 for those sunny days and have some fun but some bikers you see are just plain stupid.

Less than 50 grand will get you to 60 in less than 3.9 seconds, in luxurious surroundings

Under 3 seconds and less than 100k.

Any Sierra’s like that? Never looked really.

so you’re prepared to risk your LGV license just so you can ‘show off’?
It’s a contradiction, but yes I am.
One of my bike mates is also into mountaineering, We can’t understand how he can put himself in so much danger, just to climb a cliff face.
When he’s 180ft up the wall with nothing more than 1/2" of rope & a crampon separating life from death, then you have to think he’s selfish & not thinking right at all.
One of my favourite bits of philosophy just about sums it up :
“The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing, and becomes nothing.
He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he simply cannot learn, feel, change, grow or love.
Chained by his certitude, he is a slave; he has forfeited his freedom.
Only the person who risks is truly free.” Leo Buscaglia.
These days, as I get older & wiser, it seems that it’s only when I’m out on the bike that I become ‘alive’.
I pity the slobs, dying in front of the telly whilst drinking Lager from a can.

I know of this bloke through the straightliners community & you are horribly wrong on both counts.
It will not do 0-60 in less than 3secs & it most certainly cost him more than £100k.
But then, you are horribly wrong on most things.
do you not think about your family and friends chas and the effect it would have on them if the worst were to happen?

Here’s one with a supra engine in it.
Most of the big bhp sierras come in the form of saphire’s as people tend to mess around with them more due to them not really being a classic like the 3dr or rs500

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. The law of physics dictates a vehicles 0-60 time & an R34 could never achieve it in 2secs. There are respected websites with calculations for the geometry & horsepower required to achieve such performance. Do you think that top fuel dragsters are all experimental ?
P.S. Have you considered that maybe your mate was actually stupid? That death by his own hand was an eventual inevitability?

Clearly not. If I learnt one thing this year it’s that it is our duty to look after ourselves for others. When you’re cold in the ground you know sod all about it, it’s everyone else that has to pick up the pieces. This revelation seems obvious but it hadn’t come to me before and changed the way I live

Top fuel dragsters are a complete different ball game.
And how can you rely on a website for these figures? Why dont you build an R34 and see for yourself, I have stood and witnessed one (Under 100K bill) leave a veyron standing and that does 0-60 in 2.5 secs so your theory is therefore flawed.

No i’m not, this car doesn’t even exist anymore, it was written off in the gumball rally about 10 years ago.

Yes I do.
I’ve buried 8 mates over the years & all of them hurt. One or two hurt so much that I didn’t think that I could ever ride a bike again. The one that hurt the most was the bestest mate I ever had & it hurt so much that I left my bike in the garage for 2yrs without even looking at it.
It was only after she died that I learn’t that my mum would half worry herself to death whenever I went out on the bike.
What I fear most is dying in front of the telly.

What you just said there IS the worst that can happen… becoming a doll dosser and drinking yourself in oblivion.
Chas:

What about dribbling down your T-shirt in your wheelchair in front of said telly
I agree with what you’re saying though to a point. I’ve never owned a slow car
