Was wondering what nuggets of tripe you guys have had to listen to from tutors or other drivers during a DCPC course. I bet there are some real pearlers. Who is first?
I remember my dcpc trainer saying “I’m not being sexist, but I know as soon as I get out of here I’ll be tailgated, and it will be a woman, it always is. So just be weary of women in cars especially around 3:30 in the afternoon”.
First rate training there.
I’ll do the usual one - you need 30 mins break for 6 hours of work for the RT(WT)D

Don’t be silly ROG how could a trainer say that
ITS TRUE
My dcpc trainer suggested DVSA could make you unhitch your trailer, make you hitch it up again and if they didn’t like the way you were doing it, issue you with a fine.
He also suggested that hgv and psv drivers have to carry their driving licenses with them by law now, but be darned if I can see that anywhere on the DVLC site?

Drivers are not legally obliged to carry a driving licence while driving, but section 164 of the Road Traffic Act 1998[21] allows a police officer to require a driver to produce a driving licence within seven days at a police station chosen by the driver.
It IS a legal requirement in Ireland to carry your DL and in most EU countries too.

Had that one last week actually.
Todays’ gem was “adblue is pig ■■■■”
followed closely by “you could just ■■■■ in your adblue tank.”
Apart from that, the fuel efficiency part was pretty interesting and the second on digital tachos was better than I thought.

JESUS CHRIST ROG.
Today the class has been informed a driver on the course has been fined £60 per strap not used up to the number the ‘ministry man’ decided were needed.
He assured us all he had paid £660 there and then because 11 more straps were needed and he had to pay with his credit card or he would have been arrested.
Of course everyone took this story as correct and believes it happened.
I just smiled and said “It’s unbelievable what goes on”

So he should have had 12 straps then instead of 1?
The £100.00 per crank for not raising your trailer legs all the way seems to be a stubborn one too that keeps doing the rounds.

Therein lies the problem with this dcpc farce.
We attend 35 hours of classroom training to no fixed syllabus and with trainers providing drivers with endless incorrect information, all of which helps the transport industry how exactly?
Trouble is, many drivers are going to go away from these dcpc sessions, believing what the trainers have told them is ‘gospel’.

As I’m typing this I am in a CPC class watching a slide show about a website the instructor made while he was at college…all he talks about is himself and his bus driver career. Earlier he was teaching us about licence categories and what we are entitled to drive
