Driving forwards or in reverse?
When driving forwards (which i think is what you mean) pull the back in by steering out a little before straightening up.

Maybe you got a crabber.
Sounds like you may have an axle out of line.
If you’ve smashed your trailer up you’ll need a forklift and a block of wood, watch your fingers.
If driving and you want to get the trailer straight, do an S pattern so pulling into a layby, turn left into it, then turn right as though your coming out then back left.

Its much easier going forward, and it uses less space.
