Strapping

Does anyone know how to strap this load

Its hard tell what the machine is loading,is it a bulk load or bag loads of sand, If its loose I certainly would not be loading loose sand in a tautliner in the first place.
If its bag theres not alot you can do as sand will settle and you will be forever checking any sort of securing.

3 to 4 straps over roof seems to be the way often seen.

Ring Dave and ask ? :unamused: :grimacing:

Does every wood chip need to be strapped to the deck or not [emoji848]

4 - 6 straps along the trailer…but over the roof…at least it shows willing…if vosa ask you to open the rear doors…make sure your standing well out of the way…so he gets it full on…

If it’s loose sand then that’s some serious weight let alone worrying about strapping it!

Curtains are for weather protection only don’t forget.

Cross two internals at the rear.

If thy asked me to open that I’d politely say I’m going to refuse your request to open it up and you can’t legally make me, however as a gesture of good will I will happily allow you to open it yourself and I won’t obstruct you whatsoever.

Not when it’s a load bearing curtain like this one.

Also remember the load shouldn’t be able to move if you roll it. So get them straps out and check their braking strain :unamused:

Perhaps you can “envelope” the back doors as well, to show Willing if nowt else. Like they do on the hay bales. There’s a lot of force resting on your back doors on a couple of hinges everytime you accelerate it’s pushing back on your doors.

That maybe a load bearing curtain but it doesn’t look like an XL rated EN 12642 curtain, and that’s the one and the only one DVSA accept to form part of the load security. The ones that are just a load bearing curtain aren’t listed in the official rules (well I think they might be listed saying they are weather protection only)

Could you strap it down like it was on a flatbed ?

If you’re using straps for braking, you’re doing it wrong…

Not heard of a chip liner? These trailers have been around donkeys years

The trailer is actually a chip liner each curtain can hold 14 tons. Post was put on as little light humour to see how many would just crack on or make a mountain out of a mole hill.
