Strapping

Precisely why I didn’t post a reply being confused as to why anyone would want to strap a chip liner.

mdourish:
The trailer is actually a chip liner each curtain can hold 14 tons. Post was put on as little light humour to see how many would just crack on or make a mountain out of a mole hill.

So why are you allowed nothing but the curtain holding 14 tons on that yet DVSA want pallets of paper cups weighing about 4 tons for the entire load all strapped with internals on a standard curtain sider?

Next some drivers will be wearing seatbelts and strapping there coffee cups in the cab

Mate if your profile pic is what you drive I’m surprised you don’t ratchet strap yourself to the seat to stop yourself getting thrown around the cab…

Also remember the load shouldn’t be able to move if you roll it. So get them straps out and check their braking strain :unamused:

If you’re using straps for braking, you’re doing it wrong…

Serious question, how do you go about tipping a chip liner?

Undo the side it will be coming out of and pull the curtain to the middle, undo the pillars. Open the back doors then open the other curtain and pull it forward and undo the rear pillar. The shovel will come and push it out from this side. Put the rear pillar back in and pull the curtain to the back, undo the front pillar and repeat. Usually requires a shove or tug out after. A good shovel driver will have it empty in 3 shoves.

Messy work no matter what the load or weather, keeps you fairly active.

I’ll…

Stick with my solid walls, two doors, load lock bar and little switch that makes the noisy bit at the front go off.

Job done.

Load lock bar? No thanks, too much effort for me, just let the load hang from the roof.

I would work a flat rather than a chipliner again, horrible things.

I’ll second the above with both hands

Ah, but how do you secure the 15 tonnes of tin plate?
