how frustrating is it , you get a new truck , have 2 weeks holidays 4 weeks sick and come into what was a 1 month old truck , as new , the answer is its just cosmetic , side panel , you can’t really see but it’s caved in and all scratched along the bottom
So it looks like they’ve hit a post, it’s not hit number plate or pull out step , just knocked in panel above and left a dent all the way up
To the windscreen , they’ve no idea who’s done it , how it was done , where when , but even though the truck is nigh on new and its zb embarrassing you will drive it as it’s just
Cosmetic , so bloody frustrating , can’t people see what’s a head of them , but at the end of the day if I hadn’t had 2 weeks holiday / 4 weeks sick then it wouldn’t of happened
Stop whining Dozy, your paid to drive the thing simples. If they don’t care about its appearance that is the companies choice. Yes, it’s annoying but far more worthwhile things to worry about in life.
Unless you work somewhere you are allocated your own truck and no one else is allowed to use it things like this happen, that’s life.
Can feel your annoyance Dozy, sympathy mate.
If you take a pride in your work, and your vehicle is the main tool of use, then damage like this gets right on yer mammaries because it reflects on you.
Unfortunately this is the result of the typical of half arsed semi trained wheel attendants that are out there, the days of keeping your regular motor looking decent for the full term it’s ‘yours’ are over.
The management couldn’t obviously give a toss or they would have damage monitoring in place, my suggestion is to take a leaf out of their book, just do the bare minimum you have to and take as much money home as you can for as little effort as possible, looks like its what they do after all.
Dozy why did you go back to stobarts? Or did you never leave? I thought you wanted to get away from all this stress!
I get where you’re coming from, there is a complete lack of pride and professionalism particularly among the large fleet operators where low level damage is tolerated.
The management couldn’t care less all they care about is the stuff going out the gate, I honestly believe most of this damage is deliberate nobody is that inept that driving into posts hitting steps and missing pins happens to every truck in the yard.
There are 4 mirrors fitted to the nearside of all tractor units we also have a proximity sensor with a traffic light system that goes from green to red with an audible alarm when you get close, and club plant pot still smash the steps, then they clout the step on the off side, you know the one you sit directly above.
Then every new unit comes into the yard and within days has the back of the cab stoved in how can you miss the trailer look at the size of the ******* thing.
The current bill is around 10 grand a week, I wouldn’t pay most of them to push a brush around the yard, and before anyone mentions the “A” word the persistent clowns are company drivers.
Relax…imagine if you drove for a decent firm AND had to drive around in a battered wagon,my god that would be embarrassing!!!
Apart from the every so slightly loony Stobrat spotters no one takes any notice of your lot anyway tbf.
Tbf, it doesnt matter where you work, whether its a decent firm or the flat to the mat rule benders, if you take pride in something its a shame to come back to see it battered by some one else who clearly cant drive. Not so bad if someone owns up and the damage gets repaired but theres hoping…
Not to nit pick but that motor is older than you say as we have been on 67 plates for the last 9 weeks, so It’s more Likely that you did it yourself before you went off, but want to blame someone else because you think you’ll get a new motor if you stamp your feet hard enough.

The problem with your theory is there’s systems in place where you fill in a weekly defect sheet / damage sheet , you also fill in a daily drives log sheet ( with unit damage y/n question , you also fill in a damage question on your micorolise daily , yot also meant to ring fleet and inform them of any damage , so with all that it would be bloody nigh on impossible for me to blame anyone , it should all be bloody logged who did the damage and when
So there saying they don’t know , so are they saying the drivers who drove that truck for the 6 weeks I was off didn’t record any damage , bloody hard to believe , 6 weeks , daily damage sheets , God knows how many drivers , and not one recorded the damage you say I did , I’m sure it must of been recorded by one of them , but he didn’t say to me you’ll have to live with it as you did it , there’s the driver after you’s sheet , he just said we don’t know who did it , and it just cosmetic
As for stamping my feet to get a new truck , what are you on , you get what your given ( unless your uk tramp ) , they’ve never given me a choice of trucks , and the mere suggestion they would is laughable , I’m a number , I bloody know that , don’t worry about that .
I’m just ■■■■■■ off , maybe not even the damage though how you manage to drive into a post ( that’s what damage in front looks like ) I don’t know , I don’t really want to know who did it , I just don’t like the we don’t ■■■■■■■ care who did it , just ■■■■■■■ drive it , it’s just cosmetic ,
Get the ■■■■■■■ thing repaired , and then you get some idiot on the phone this afternoon saying to calm down and he will investigate , no he won’t the trucks moving ■■■■■■■ loads , jobs a ■■■■■■■ joke ,

I left , went trunking , chucked dummy out of pram, blamed it on boredom but I thought I’ll do the job as I want , ,not as mate wanted , did 2 other jobs , dummy out of prams again , went agency ( ad hoc ) , didn’t get on with that , so got offered agency full time on concrete work ( stobarts ) own truck , won’t be used unless desperate , then new one which won’t be used unless you on holiday , now it’s just gone back to where it was ,6 weeks off and first day back I’m talking to myself again , I don’t know what I’ll do , my heads exploding , I try so hard to let things go over my head but I’ll be back walking round the Lorry park at 2 am as I won’t be able to sleep .
they say never go back , to right ,

Seem? Again? Did we ever leave then?
And I suppose donkey and beaver completely murdering and misusing memes is the norm for this place too now
I’d be more embarrassed about driving a truck with stobart plastered all over it rather than worrying about a few dents on it. Petrol and a match would be the best way forward
