Stobys on strike

Its only one depot the chilled one as far as i know and it doesnt affect any of the other drivers.
Also seems esl has sent drivers from here to cover the work.
Try the following links but these from tuesday

I know the depot like, just wondering if there was any new news, rather than old news.

 seems not

Went up to show my support for the drivers, for an hour.None of my professional business, just a show of solidarity with fellow drivers.
About 80 ish, which,as I know nothing of the overall driver headcount,am not sure how it stacks up as a percentage of the workforce.
Garda prescence was low key,the two that were there, didnt want hassle,so,in my opinion, they tried to keep everyone happy. Suppliers allowed in and out, private cars allowed in and out.The three ESL units that came in to the approach road were not,nor was the minibus with drivers inside it.Some ginp in the passenger seat of the first unit videoing the proceedings.I wonder will it be on the Stobart show on telly? :unamused: As Id been up since 01.00,split after about an hour.

Whiplash do you know did all the driver s they were supposed to have shipped over from here appear

apparently 40 or so drivers appeared from uk but didnt break the picket
if i worked for esl i def wouldnt even contemplate going over
would anyone on here go over to break the picket if asked by esl

Thanks for the report whiplash.

Even better than that the drivers rep from Trafford park who’s a big union man ( as are most of the drivers ) won’t sort our issues out here but wants to go to Dublin and break picket lines! :open_mouth: makes sense to me that :unamused:  :bulb: :frowning:

Drivers reps at Esl are chocolate fireguards! Self self self

dessy:
Drivers conditions? Not the pay? :open_mouth:

common dessy, its the paddys were talking about here, are you suprised

ITS all about the money money money
so it seems

but fair play they didnt cross and hopefully get paid there 15 hrs

This view is often brought up and bandied around to slag union reps and members.

The truth of the matter is this.
Since 1979 the Employment act and Industrial Relations Act were changed which effectually hand-cuffed the Unions and their members and prevented them from taking on “Employers and Government” over wages and conditioned. The workers were left with a choice - Take what employers dish out - or leave it. This with the blessing of Governments, elected by the people and in some cases people who were willing to keep the lower paid in society at the bottom of the pile so as to maintain their own standard of living.
There was no room for dissent. The above Acts of parliament prevented that, and were enforced vigorously by Police powers - fast forward to the Miners strike.

That - Fatboy slimslow - is why Union Reps have so little power to take on Employers and Governments today.
Just thought I’d remind everyone.

when was the last time anyone saw a union rep or a drivers rep that the management did’nt keep sweet

have a look around you lads

Heard various reports of 40,50,80 and 150 drivers shipped over.(Do yous do any work over there at all? )
Also heard they had flown some in through Aer Arran,(a half dead regional airline that ESL bought into 1-2 years back),and some had been bussed and ferried over.
Once again this could be a case of “Tel e fax,Tel e phone, Tell a Lorry Driver” syndrome.I know, all I saw in the hour and a bit I was there, were the three units(Irish regd),and an airport courtesy Transit. An injunction against the picket was ordered last night at 11pm(ish).Tiddley bop, away off home now boys. Round two is imminent. Today I had 6/7 drops in Dublin, starting at 04.30. Passed two Tesco stores,on the way out of the city, and their return combies were all parked on the footpath ready for collection.Only thing was,I left the city at about 06.50,and theres a 5 axle ban after 07.00!Youd normally meet the lads on various streets, leaving well before 7,so deliveries were delayed somewhat. Hopefully it might make the h.o. sit up and take notice of some of the ludicrous,(if what Im told is true),things that are going on in that depot.

Ta for the word down on the street.

From what I saw last night there was ABSOLUTELY no chance of a baton charge. What crap Tesco can put out.For the hour or so I was there, there was good, if grudging , humour.Even the depot manager, when walking out past the crowd ,partook in a bit of banter with the lads.
Maybe it al turned ugly after I left?

I wish someone would tell these tv companies that we don’t pay the licence fee to have all this stuff about stobart on tv, what’s the idea anyway?, is there really anyone out there interested in this crap ■■?.
I agree that a proper documentary about the road transport industry showing the general public what goes on and how it all works would be a good thing, a lot of people would probably find it educational, for a start it should show people that there are a hell of a lot more companies other than stobart involved in the transport industry, bigger and better companies too in many cases.

How long were the Queue if all Eddy Stobbard lorry were parked up the Hard shoulder along?
