That will be the lads out of Appleton Thorn then zodiac! The lads up there should tell them to “do it yerself” As they(management) know better than the drivers!
Glad I got out when I did then. No way would I be working over there and crossing picket lines, you’d have to be mental!

Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch than the planning team at AT!

Hi Lads,
I’m one of the drivers who is going on strike at the Ballymun Tesco, Stobart,Keelings site in Dublin.
WE ASK THAT ALL UK BASED DRIVERS DO NOT EXCEPT THE AN OFFER TO COME TO DUBLIN…unless your coming to support the strike or having a couple of pints of Guinness
To answer a couple of questions
Yes we have a very strong union around 90% of the drivers are now in SIPTU. Around 16 months ago Stobart came to the Ballymun site, around 100 of 120 unionised drivers took the redundancy package on offer. This decimated our local branch, but thanks to the attitude of Eddie Stobart and senior management new drivers came together for protection once again. Drivers, agency staff and most of the Irish Hackers will not be crossing the picket, so we ask you to do the same.
Many Thanks

It’s Taliban in Ireland mate!Whats Taliban?
The Taliban or East Europeans Malc!
Just say these boys have been great, ES having be doing their best trying to divide. Ultimately 94% voted for strike action, a huge “finger” to senior management.

Are the Irish lads more unionised than over here?A smaller operation in Ireland and it’s Tesco Ireland specific so will be probably drivers from pre-Stobart getting in there!
From Ballymun,Donabate sites around 60/70 out of 160/170ish are pre Stobart
Tesco has around 130 stores in the Republic
All the best to you lads! Give em hell!
“Driver welfare is at the heart of our business. Two recent independent audits by the Road Safety Authority have found Stobart to be fully compliant with driver standards,” a statement for the company said.
Stobfart might comply with “Standards” but it’s the standards which are the problem. They mentioned rest periods as a grievance. Three 9s then two 11s may be legal but it doesn’t leave the driver with much of a life. I wonder how many hours a week the suits who made these rules up work
The trouble is haulage firms don’t see drivers hours as a maximum limit - they see it as a target.
The trouble with Stobart is they want to max the hours available! Even when not necessary! They want to work the lads in Ireland beyond any normal and reasonable hours for what they are doing! Same as they push the newbies here in the Bean!
Is the road network in Ireland that bad? I haven’t been since 2007! But the road network was pretty good then!
Typical Stobbies!! Max work minimum pay!
cannock unliver contract for stobbies end in april 2013 as my dad drives for them out of cannock and unliver wont be renewing the contract
““Driver welfare is at the heart of our business.”
Tell that to the lad they sacked because he’s done 54hrs over 4 night…he’s refused to do the 5th because he was too tired. Remember he’d been doing this level of work for 14 months!!
Within 4hrs he’d received a couriered letter saying he was suspended…later after the process he was fired!
the english lads should come out in support but they wont to ■■■■ scared.

The roads in Ireland are shiate. That’s coming from 2nd generation. Most drivers from here, me included would be climbing the wall after a few days over the way.
Stobarts will get some trampers to go over (do they have any left?) the lads who daren’t say no or do anything the’yre asked or maybe it will be first assignment for their new “Franchisees” Just do us this little favour and your new motor won’t get fire bombed or anything.
As I said before I work at that site in Dublin. The access road is not a place you’d want to get stuck in, there is NO way out!
Any driver attempting or forcing himself in would be very brave or stupid
If you type Ballymun, Dublin into google see what come up
As for the roads in Ireland, things have improved greatly, I’m on motorway 99% of the time.

Wasn’t there an issue in Livingston, where Stobart drivers refused to cross a picket line?
