Stobbart ports day drivers

hi can anyone tell me what kind of money stobbarts pays for days on containers been asked to go for a driving assesment for widnes days mon to fri days any info would be appreciated thanks

Can’t help with the rates, but good luck with the assessment.

Not sure I’d like to do boxes on days only, it’s a tramping job for definate, you carry so much crap for opening and closing the doors, entertaining yourself whilst waiting etc

And, it’s usually damned long days, so commuting before and after :open_mouth:

Days on boxes must be best job ever! Local runs… an ipad + internet = laid out on the bunk whilst the £s roll in. surely?

firstly, i would suggest that you learn how to spell the name of the company BEFORE you go for the assessment

i do days on containers, and i can honestly say that the only thing i carry for opening and closing the doors is a 4lb lump hammer

as for it being

usually damned long days

, i have been known to do 3 jobs in a day and still be home for lunchtime

now, for the advice…

sorry, can’t help with pay rates, never enquired

if you get the job, take plenty of books, or a laptop, inverter and internet dongle

i believe that Stobart is somehow linked with Deben Transport as they regularly pull each others trailers

another bit of advice, if you do get the job, and then go in to the Roadways Container Logistics railhead at Birch Coppice to do a trailer change, make sure you take either a Stobart or Deben trailer, and not an RCL trailer, unlike the ■■■■ who tried getting a container lifted on an RCL trailer last week

hi mate i work at wines tesco for stobarts i wanted a change so looked into a tranfer to widnes ports. i am on stobarts rate of pay if you go to widnes ports you go onto ports rate of pay.
8.03 per hour flat rate.
9.72 ot after 60 hours
12.71 after midnight saturday and all through sunday.
they do not pay driving standards bonus or meal allowance but they do pay a 200 pound bonus if you are not absent for 80 days.
i am not now applying for a transfer.
hope this helps

Not with Stobarts. You’re usually running from the port to their Crick/Goole railhead or vice versa or to a RDC where you drop it for shunters to tip.

First 60!!! hours at that standard rate?.. :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Jesus wept.

Keep saying ‘heard it all now’, and sure enough another bit of lunacy crops up to beat the last one.

It’s Stobart’s - don’t be suprised as they only do crap wages.

£9.72 after 60hrs… f.f.s. no wonder poor old Ashley is knackered, you’ve got to work 70hrs, to make a wage… :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: No wonder Tinkler, and William are flying helicopters, driving Range Rovers, and racing horses… :imp:

No you’re not. Usual runs are to local RDC’s, Matalan et al…Probably three locals a day. Them distance trunks are usually done by night drivers.

On the show he went into B+M’s, I used to love that job, a good 6hr kip there, but he dropped and swapped :open_mouth: That’s not container work :smiling_imp:

Are there really guys out there who are happy driving LGV C+E working 60hours/week for £8.03/hour gross £481 roughly about £340 take home  :exclamation: :exclamation: :open_mouth:

I’m currently on less. I’m salaried, so if I don’t deduct my break (makes no difference on salary anyway), I’m on 55hrs for 24k / year (approx 465 per week) and on Friday I got delayed so did an extra couple of hours too for free.

And I’m doing curtain side work, not container work (although drop and swaps isn’t box work either in my opinion - you must have at least 3hrs per day sat on your arse to be a container driver), it’s not hard work but not easy work either.

I want a job that is easier, pays more and is closer to home, but at the moment this is what was on offer, so it’s what I do, and it’s still WELL above the £6.20 advertised by a certain company a few weeks ago

any idea what the overnight payment is for trampers?

Currently considering a transfer there but so far, I’m not impressed with the pay scale. It’s not as good as the Stobart rate.

Don’t worry about the money. Think of the prestige.
youtube.com/watch?v=6tI73B5s … re=related

very funny, not very helpful though

When i tried for their apprenticship last year i went out for 4 days with one of the guys from the ports, dont know what the pay is like but we did 13-15 hour days everyday and the work was a few drop and swaps but most of it was waiting 3-4 hours to be loaded/unloaded, it was all local stuff on days though think the furtherst we went was manchester.
The driver i was with said on his pay checks it still said o’conners not stobarts on them

Dunno I’d not jump at the chance of it that’s for sure. I could have 18 hours extra at home for the same money, although I realise it’s a job it doesn’t strike me as a great one.

Also not having a pop, but seeing as Stobart’s have 2000 odd lorries, trains, fire engines, diggers, dumpers, airport tugs, and just about everything else everywhere you look how is it that people still can’t spell it correctly Stobbart, Stobbard etc.

£340 take home from £481 gross? At what tax code?
