stobarts widnes

just come off a weeks holiday and informed by my mate all drivers have to have a induction on tesco white axor units as this is what we are now going to drive most of stobarts units going to heywood…what next? :sunglasses:

I’m gutted for you

Ouch, I feel for ya, I hate axors as I think they are death traps, tesco ones can’t even do 50… Can you not refuse to drive them?

52 mph limited white liveried tesco units with tesco fleet number and eddie stobart written in small words either door.

I wonder if the induction on the ‘Axor’ will include how to clean the outside of the windscreen without getting the planner’s permission  If not might be a good idea to suggest it because it seems some other depot’s have this now according to another ESL driver :open_mouth:

Regards

looks like your slowly becomming a tesco driver,im envious, any mention of your new t+c,s as your a tesco driver all but in name

Heard its just for 3 months though. Feel for you, I’d rather have a little Scania compared to Merc axor.

hi i just did an assessment in one of these what’s wrong with them ? i thought they were ok but i don’t have a great deal of experience ,the trainer said the mercs were going elsewhere after 6 months i think ,i was like driving a private car compared to some of the sheds i have had to drive ,

You have a job.

You get paid to do as you’re told.

Yeah and they will say “see ya” :unamused:

Excellent working truck the Axor, well suited to delivery work unless fitted with satan’s gearbox (which ruins every bloody vehicle its fitted too bar Volvo who got it right), whats everyone got against Axors?..not bling enough?..do grow up, we drive trucks not badges.

Should have windows all round, no trouble getting in those tight blind side high street shops back doors…

Done over 2 years with Stobarts, Appleton and Hawleys.Never had a problem, moved to Widnes, lasted 4 weeks!! ■■■■ of a place run by beauts.Spewed it and gone on the agency.

I guess you haven’t driven a ‘proper’ truck yet… They are just the worst thing I’ve driven for the worst company you could ever work for, the majority of recent fatal accidents I’ve seen have involved an axor & the worst one was on the M1, poor driver didn’t stand a chance! Driving ‘safer’ motors (to me) also ensures a higher chance of me getting home in 1 piece…

Indeed we are paid by the hour but to some of us time is more precious than anything, some of us have families to go back home to so if driving @56mph+ all day means I finish work even an hour earlier each day then that’s precious time I could be spending with them.

I believe that a proper driver can get any motor anywhere, I’m sure many of us have delivered to the worst of places & still managed without windows all round-now I understand why they say there’s drivers then there’s screwdrivers…lol

Try going here, in the dark with cars parked around you and on the corners LOL !!

Oh, and you need a short rear steer trailer

I have to agree about getting home for family time…However, my point being that the longer the job takes, the more hours you get in! which in this day and age is sometimes required to earn a decent wage…poor rates and all that!!!

You never had the pleasure of working for Kwik Save and blind siding a 180 degree reverse U turn down into their 1 in 8 loading bank at Norbury back door then…

So money is more important to some, fair enough but @ least there should be an option of those that want to crack on with the job.

Funny enough I’ve been to this place in the exact same conditions but wetter & I can say there’s far worse out there to get into with a full size trailer-tosco is no the be all & end all of everything…lol. Not done quick save but did somerfield takeovers just after.

Oh i did quick save too, and Sommerfields. But that Manchester store you won’t get to without a short rear wheel steer, and if you could do it without a rear window in dark with cars then i take my hat off to you. I wouldn;t be able to do it, or if i did i’d be out the cab every few inches !!!

If its tight I do get out & have a good look around…
