Another question for stobarts drivers. How does the £5 fuel bonus work? Do you get £5 for a good MPG or is it broken down to specific items, eg harsh braking, over reving etc…
Also is it £5 a day??

Is for cruise control, braking, green band and idle time. I think.
So you need to keep all things green to get it
Idle time for the to be under a certain amount, think its 4 or 5 mins.
No harsh braking (Dropping I think about 10mph in less than 2 seconds or something).
Revs under the top of the green band for 95% of the day.
Cruise control engaged for 90 or 95% of the day.
All in all, pretty easy to do unless you rag it everywhere tbh

Idle time for the waht?

Flipping hell that’s hard or rather that’s impossible to achieve.

Funnily enough I was just speaking to a Stobbies driver in the drivers waiting room in Amazon (Dunfermline) yesterday and he says it’s for what happysack said i.e. :-
happysack:

He said he never was one for cruise control but Stobbies have got them all ‘trained’ and now it’s just force of habit and he does it automatically.
I don’t use it

I hope you didn’t think I was referring to you happy? I was quoting what the Stobart driver had said. (Just in case there’s any confusion ).
No. No confusion here.

Ex-cell-ent-e!
Idle time-what if u have an air leak or had flat batteries and need to put charge into them?
Cruise Control-what if your delivering on rural roads, ie West Wales or Scotland or East Anglia?
Doesn’t seem fair to me!

if you had an air leak etc you phone in and explain why you are running your engine. No problem.
Cruise control, phone in and explain what roads you are using. Should be no issue.
If you set cruise to say 30km/h on an opticruise scania, you can drive how you want using the throttle but the computer still thinks you are using cruise. Complete nonsense dreamt up by some office bod. I probably register less than an hour a week cruise but get let off with it.
to get your 5 quid…
1.keep it in the green.
2.no harsh braking(anticipate the road ahead)
3.minimum idling.(switch it off when you can…the worst thing for this is in stop start traffic in road works…racks up idling very quickly)
4.cruise control.use it whenever you can.
if you slam the brakes on twice AND leave it idling for half an hour you lose it…you might get away with 1 but not both.
you have to work hard NOT to get it…its just common sense really.
at the end of the day , its only a fiver… they can stuff it…
there’s enough things to worry about on this job.

That’s £1160 a year though with an assumed 4 weeks holiday & 8 bank holidays taken into account. That could be your summer holiday paid for, just for driving sensibly.
I think there is a good case for a dedicated Eddie Stobart forum here on TruckNet. Certainly enough topics.

This is what happens when they don’t disengage the cruise control and don’t use the brakes!!!

All that training, health and safety ■■■■■■■■, matching hiviz and bonuses.
And still they can’t drive. They don’t need fuel bonuses. They need telling you stay on the black bit. Green isn’t always the way to go, even for a Stobbies Nobby!
Maybe he knows the bloke in the house & was calling for a brew?
