If you were earning 3 or 4 pounds per hour you wouldn’t be able to earn enough to pay all the bills.
Who is “you” ? If i earnt £4 PH i could pay all my bills, and go out. Aside from which the minimum wage is about £6 odd per hour. Post up a pic of another wage slip to remind us all how bad we’re doing !!!
Crack on then mate. There’ll be another idiot along in a minute…
Thats not an answer. You’ve intimated someone couldn’t live on £4PH, i’m telling you i could. I’m also saying there is no £4 PH wage, it would be illegal. BUt you want to lambast some imaginary person for earning some imaginary low wage? No sir, you crack on. You’re finding things that aint there and its fun to watch.
Yes it is!
Try reading the thread and the post by The Sarge I was referring to. I was being hypothetical about the £4/hour, as I’m sure he or she was…
Irrespective of the above, the point is that the more drivers that are prepared to work for ■■■■ money, the more companies will expect it. They’ve had it sussed a long time that some drivers are seduced by a naff shiny truck and don’t mind about the fact that to earn a decent wage they have to put 70 hours in. Stobarts are one of the best at this with the vinyl wrap and lots of new motors.
I merely meant, if you’re happy doing such a thing, crack on! The drivers with the nous prefer more money and less hours, rather than the other way round!

Lets assume you’re 100% correct. So what ?
So it gradually gets more difficult to earn decent money for those that aren’t seduced by a Scania, as companies expect more and more for less and less…

It’s not a difficult concept to comprehend.
Gradually ? You’ve noticed this in the four years or so you’ve been driving? How much more difficult has it become say for example year on basis (you’ll only have four to count so won’t take you long)?
i.e first year wasn’t to bad…now in my fourth year its getting increasingly harder. You know stuff like that, examples of how its affecting you…
I’m genuinely interested to know.
Some people need to get their heads out of the ■■■! Who gives a ■■■■ what other people will work for? As long as are in a job!! If you can live off £4PH Good on you! I really could not care less. Do you have a job that pays over £10PH? Good for you! Once again I could not give a ■■■■! You might not work for Stobarts, but plenty of other people do. Plenty of them are happy putting the hours in to make the money they need. Not happy working 60 hour weeks? I dont care, some people need to. I get paid more than Stobart drivers but if I needed to I would work there.
Oh and if you did a little research before hand you could of have the pay rates without getting them after assessments and interviews and posting them here. To be frank I dont think you even qualify to earn that much. Some Stobart blokes are alright. I have also seen some “idiots who work for nothing” wipe the floor with people who wont get out of bed for less than £12PH.
holliefabbabe:
well they have changed there thing now, been casual for 4 years now, happy doing 3 days a week but they have decided that agency (10ph+) take priority over casuals (£7-8ph) so i guess its time to find something else , or become agency
Do you choose your own days Hollie ? Or do they ring you?
And do you get £15 a day grub allowance ?
Ps I’m a nosey old git

Rant over
Thanks Jamie - that’s what I couldn’t be bothered explaining I live my life, and I work for it, if I can find one of these mythical £15 an hour/40 hour weeks I’ll jump on it, but until then I’ll do what I can to look after me and mine.
It is by no means limited to driving, this ■■■■ money. I used to work as a manager in a bookies - £14k for working anywhere between 08:00 and 22:00 and all the abuse you can take! I prefer driving, where I can double that doing something that I enjoy far more.
£7.50 x 40hrs =£300 £10.00 x 40hrs =£400 £15.00 x 40hrs =£600
Get the best basic pay and everything else follows.
I am sixty years old and started on class 1 in 1976. Night out pay never has and never will be part of a drivers wage (most companies would pay you the CASH before or after a night out).
And yes I am one of them drivers who wont work for less than £10.00 per hour (in fact in my case its now £11.00)
Course it is. Look at what you receive when you are on holiday!!! I’m on salary and receive the same wage when at work or on holiday - defo not a day rate! Sat/Sun are paid different (although weekend work is very very rare) up to 4 hrs £50 over 4 hrs £100 I did a Sat morning a few weeks ago and the gaffer told me to have a 15 on the way in so he could pay me £100 which I thought was ok…I’ll work extra 15 min for £50 all the time
NewLad:
And I thought my day rate converted into hourly rate was gash!
I couldn’t work for that, it’s neigh on slavery!
Your on a wind up,I know a few lads at browns/ turners ( assuming your still there) who went there when we had redundancies ,they say the money’s about the same but there doing a lot more hours for it G/d has been trying too get back too stobarts but got turned down, his best mate says he never sees his kids the hours he does, for the same money he was getting doing 8 hrs a day on shop deliveries( signed up for 10. 5 hrs).
Turners drivers bashing stobart wages ,what ever next

From what people say on here the kits good and the jobs a doddle. When my current gig ends i’ll definitely be applying.
Because having a new motor rented for you every 3 years put scran on the table and clothes on the kids back!
£500+ p/w… Same as most of the big players. Its just a bonus they run decent kit.
Guess you’re one of those that would rather an extra 20p a week and drive an erf EC12. completely forgetting when you finish you feel like you’ve done a week down the mines.
No mate, I’m paid a day rate, if I do maximum hours yes it’s rubbish around £7.80hr, I’d never work for a company on a 40/50hr contact on £7.20 an hour because when the work is slack or your on holiday, you getting paid £300 a week. If I was on hourly rate it’d have to be £9ph+ minimum.
My jobs recently changed, I’m away all week now I only do between 50 and 65 hrs depending on if it’s 5/6 days.
Oh and I drive a 62 or 13 plate Actros, not hired/leased either, for what it’s worth.
So if it’s slack I’m on £300
No I’d be on
£8.90 x 40=£356
£11.75x10=£117.5
£15 m/ a x5 =£75
£5 f/b x 5 =£25
Total £573.50
Holidays I get
£8.90x40=£356
£11.75x10£117.50
£14 p/dayx5=£70
Total 543.50
So there you are, that’s what I get,so as I say assuming your still at browns / turners
What do you get on a weeks holiday /slack week
Be interesting to compare them won’t it.
Mrmack65:
You could become a TV superstar for your £7.20 wooopeeee lucky you, go for it and become another knob in green
Not my scene to be honest, but can’t knock the likes off mark Dickson,£2/300 for just tweeting you think the tin of car Polish you’ve been sent for free is wonderfull ,it’s no wonder he’s got a smug grin on his face, knowing we work all week for what he gets for a couple of tweets
I’m starting too warm to the idea.
Shame there not doing anymore.

This was a bank holiday week where I did 6 days the bank holiday is only worth a extra £20 gross. I get this whether I do 48 or 84 hours, on this week I did 65 hours. Now let’s see a stobart wage slip, because if I can get that for doing 8 hours a day I’ll dress like an elf!
when i did stobarts on agency you could spend 7 hours of a 15 hour shift sitting in distribution centres.they aint gonna pay a fortune for people to sit around a lot of the time or they’d go bust.
