it makes me laugh how stobarts are always bashed yet they pay no worse than the other big boys.
maritime for example I’ve never seen them bashed. everyone goes on about good money and a great firm but you’ll work for it, they then add “£600 take home”. Virtually the same as Stobarts come the end of the week.
For what its worth i drive a Peugeot boxer van for much more p/h than stobarts are paying and get put into a hotel every night but that doesn’t mean they’re a bad company to work for.
I’d rather earn £600 at Maritime than the £490 Kaptains son earns at Stobarts earns,I’d hardly call that “virtually the same” fair play he’s a young lad just starting out so he has to take whats on offer and they will run things as straight as you like, no tipping off card etc etc

I work for a so called big boy frim and we get just short of £10 per hour days and time 1/2 after 9.5 hours and also just taken a lots of work of Stobarts so don’t say it’s all they can afford to pay they just pay crap
It’s all the APR on those hired units/trailers, the whole company is on hp.

That’s [zb] FLASH DASH NO CASH ! + I wouldn’t want to spend my day waving at old sad o’s on bridges with nothing better to do that take photos of trucks that all look the same the whole thing just makes me cringe… I drive class 2 ro-ro for a metal recycling company I’m on £9 p/h + overtime rates of either time and a half or double time depending on what I’m working + a £50 monthly bonus just for turning up and I drive a 63 plate DAF not the best truck but it’s good enough for me I can hit £450+ a week with no nights out … so stop arts are crap in my opinion
^+1 and that’s for driving a oversized van!
lol to right mate I’ll take the cash for my oversize van I don’t need bragging rights of how big my load or vehicle is my house and cars can do that for me it might only be 32t but I’m home every night to enjoy the Mrs, kids my house, cars and bed it’s not a lifestyle to me it’s just a job .
meal allowance was good though as I remember…
well they have changed there thing now, been casual for 4 years now, happy doing 3 days a week but they have decided that agency (10ph+) take priority over casuals (£7-8ph) so i guess its time to find something else , or become agency

hi all probably had all this before, had a phonecall to go for assesment with stobarts.when i got home had email with rates of pay £7.20 p/hr are they takin the ■■■■ or what.
How did this come about? How do you get to go for an assesment if you havn’t applied ?
I WILL WORK FOR £4 AN HOUR, if the only other option is not working and losing my house, car, wife etc…
If I earn enough to pay my bills and have a bit left, that’s a good job. I would rather have a great job - but a paying job ALWAYS beats no job. It’s called working for a living…

I understood it as he’s applied, gone through their processes and then been gven the “new lorries, green uniform, weirdos waving at you (must wave back),” then got the hourly rate.

I work in a factory, and do casual work for Stobarts, I don’t get what all this anti -Stobarts is all about, I started driving over 20 years ago, running fridges out of Newark, and the Grantham, doing things you shouldn’t be doing.
I started with Stobarts after a years driving experience where probably most firms wouldn’t even look at you!!
Now I can phone any Friday night or Saturday and get work, I’m not contracted to work, I work as and when I want, I’m actually just sat in there Sherburn dept.
I have a pay slip from last year, where I done a 15 hour night, where I brought home just short of £150, now before all the haters start, I know other companies “may” pay more, there won’t have the flexibility.
And I don’t do it for the glory of driving a new motor, I prefer driving there draw bars, this ones an 08 plate with 1208404kms on, I do it for the money, and nothing else!!!

So after 27 years in the game, you now realise to find out the wage before you apply for the job?
I don’t hate stobarts any more than I dislike any company that pays poorly, and £7.40 an hour is poor, we were getting that at asda Washington back on 2005. Even the likes of Ramage or Simpsons up here pay better than that & they are well known as poor payers.

Did I say I would drive lorries for £4 per hour? I said I would do anything to earn money to pay my bills. It’s called “taking care of business”, something that is sadly lacking nowadays…

That’s fair enough mate and the money isn’t the worst I’ve seen out there but it’s the fact that they have killed a lot of smaller firms and the well payed jobs it’s like when a big tesco opens In a small village it hurts a lot of business and stobarts are the equivalent in transport and people dislike that especially when it’s kind of rammed down your throat with the look how big and powerful we are but really there success lies in undercutting all the small firms and not paying the drivers as much as they would have done that to me = a lot of haters …
There are some reight numpties driving trucks, judging from this thread.
‘I’ll work for any rate if it puts bread on the table’
What a load of nonsense. If you were earning 3 or 4 pounds per hour you wouldn’t be able to earn enough to pay all the bills.
There is no surprise that drivers earn ■■■■ money. A lot of them seem very happy to work hard for ■■■■ all. The secret is earning as much as possible, for the least amount of effort. At least, it is if you’ve any wit.

Who is “you” ? If i earnt £4 PH i could pay all my bills, and go out. Aside from which the minimum wage is about £6 odd per hour. Post up a pic of another wage slip to remind us all how bad we’re doing !!!

Thats not an answer. You’ve intimated someone couldn’t live on £4PH, i’m telling you i could. I’m also saying there is no £4 PH wage, it would be illegal. BUt you want to lambast some imaginary person for earning some imaginary low wage? No sir, you crack on. You’re finding things that aint there and its fun to watch.
